I just installed new cabinets in my kitchen and I decided I would tile the countertop and backsplash. I was thinking of either putting 3/4" plywood or 3/4" fiberboard down and laying the tile ontop of that. Then I was planning on sealing the tile.
Here is my question. Since plywood has a tendency to warp, would it be better to use fiberboard instead... or will that sag after time?
Also, do you think its a good ideal to seal the wood (plywood or fiberboard) with a coat of polyurethane before laying the tile?
If anyone has ever done this before, any additional tips that you could think of will also be helpful
Thank you!

I purchased MS all-white dishes at KMart about 6 years ago. Now all the finish is coming off, I can see a metal coloring on all the dishes. I trusted MS to sell only quality furnishings, Do you have a recall on these dishes? Thank you for y our reply. Irene P. Barreca

Just bought a house that has a above ground swimming pool. I know nothing about the upkeep, cleaning and basic maintenance of swimming pools. Are there any good web sites, books, or suggestions to get me started in the right direction?

We have a few outlets in our house that wont work, the one in the garage that controls the garage door opener, one in the bathroom, one on 1 wall in our living room that goes out now and again. we also have a light switch that burns bulbs as soon as we replace them.
I have switched all the fuses off, then on again, it has not solved the problem...I am guessing we have a short somewere, what is your opion?
thanks

The electric ignitor is out AGAIN, this would make it the 2nd time it has done this, what would cause the ingnitor to go out? the furnace is blowing not cold air, but not hot air. since the furnace is electric, no gas is coming out, it is just blowing normal air, not heated, like i said before this has happend before.
why would it go out again?!?!

My kitchen has a fluorescent light fixture in the ceiling (the circular 2-ring kind). It sometimes takes as long as 2 hours to actually turn on after I flip the switch. Does this indicate that the bulb is bad and/or dying, or is there another suggestion as to what is wrong?
Thanks

I've just bought a new fitted kitchen - it's high gloss white with chrome handles, the fitten appliances will be metallic too. The work surface is high gloss black and white speckles. So, i wanted to tile round the part that that has all the units and appliances, and then i have 1 wall which is completely bare, except for radiator (ie kitchen is round 3 out of 4 walls in a u shape). I was thinking of shiny black tiles round the units, but have no idea what to put on the other wall. Tiling would be too expensive for us so i was thinking of papering and painting, but what colour? or maybe i shouldnt use black tiles? any ideas? it's very confusing and as this is our 1st kitchen i havent got any experience of what does and doesnt work well in that area! thank you
