I have tallow, maple, live oaks and crepe mrytles. I'm in the south and its so much easier to cut them in the cold weather. Will they just remain dormate and the cut branches be okay?
Its really only in the 50's here and only a few days of freezing (2-4 days of 30's) What are the effects? Thanks so much.

I guess I'm one of those lucky guys to have the whole basement to myself, accept in Canada, winters are horribly cold, and my basement is FREEZING Cold.. The problem is there is only 1 vent coming to my room from the furnace.
My Question - Short of running another vent from the furnace, is there anyway I can increase the output of heat/air?
(I don't want to get a space-heater, too expensive on electricity)... Any other options?
Thanks in advance

I have a vinyl pool, the one where you inflate the ring and fill the pool with water and the wall rises. This summer I will be living at a home without grass for my pool to be set up. I will have a large asphalt drive way where I can set up the pool. Question is, because asphalt is hot, would it be a bad idea to put the pool on the asphalt. Maybe I could put outdoor carpeting under it. Would that work? Any suggestions?

I bought the house with the ceiling fans already fitted... so I don't know how old they are.
I've had a look at one fan to see if anything was obviously wrong, but can find no worn out parts in it's fittings, (eg. the rubber mounting seems fine.)

I live in a 3 storey house. I have a window cleaner to clean the front but not the back as I am not at home when he calls. I have double glazing and my windows open out. I have a south facing garden and the sun shows up all the muck and grime on the windows.

I have found red residue on my bath tub, sink, shower head, and even in my dog's water dish. From researching online it sounds like it might be iron in the water, so I'm planning on contacting my landlord, but can this make me or my dog sick? She's been having an upset stomach lately and my boyfriend and I have been getting headaches but I don't know if I'm over analysing or if this might be a real problem. Let me know if anybody knows or has any experience with this type of stuff.
