I am concerned the cloth washer will break down from the heavy vibration that occurs during the spin cycle.

the heavy vibration is usually from an uneven load. Try to spread the clothes around evenly when you fill up your washer.

Usually a washer will rattle when spinning if it's off balance. This usually only happens with top loading washers (not the newer front load style). The best way to stop that from happening is to open the lid and redistribute the clothes so that they are even all around the drum. When you open the lid and it's been rattling you'll probably find that there is a big lump of clothes on one side of the drum and few, if any, on the other side. If it's happening regularly then you are probably putting uneven loads in to begin with (like if you wash only one pillow instead of two) and you'll need to add or take away something from the wash to make it more even to begin with.

The other reason it could be happening is if your washer is not levelled properly. If you push down on all four corners (one at a time) and it feels like the washer is wobbly (like a table where you would need to put a coaster under the leg to steady it), then you should be able to adjust one of the legs to make it even again. The legs usually can be screwed up or down to level them, or you could just put something under it.

If it is vibrating, you need to level the washing machine first and see if that is the problem. Simply get a carpenter's level, available at any hardware store or walmart hardware dept.; place on the front of the washer, check level. Adjust the screw legs as necessary--most can be turned with an adjustable wrench. Do the same for the back legs. Then place the level on the right and left sides of the lid, and readjust as needed until the you have it level all around.

Your washer tub is on springs, so it self-adjusts for clothes that are off to one side. However, if the whole unit is not level, it will cause the cabinet to vibrate and also sometimes jump around.

Installed washers and driers for several years.

try to load it evenly. When the clothes are mostly to one side it is out of balance when it spins causing vibrations.

Make sure your load is balanced before it goes in to the spin cycle.

Make sure it is sitting level on the floor. You can also get some rubber floor mats to absorb some of the sound.

Do not overload your washer.
Make sure your water level is appropriate to how many clothes you put in.

Remeber, warm wash, dry low.
