Has anyone read the "Prop 65" warnings on the back of Christmas tree light boxes... ???!! Oh my goodness!

They are warning that the plastic coating contains LEAD and that it can cause reproductive and birth defects.. and can cause cancer! It's in all Walmart stores under the brand "Holiday Time"... Other stores carry different brands, and they all have the warning!

Why do they allow this??????????????????????????????

What I want to build is a cube made out of semi-transparent acrylic sheets with a lightbulb ballast screwed down to the floor of the cube and the electrical cord leading out. This will look really cool because it will be a soft white light cube that can be used even as a side table. I don't know where to get the acrylic sheets or how to attach them to each other. I imagine using epoxy, but if anyone has better ideas please provide them. Thanks!

The Tank is in a tight spot. Completely stuck. No matter what I do, it wouldn't budge. This tank is used for housing ejection pump and eject sewerage water from the small apartment. Any suggestions to help would be appreciated. Thanks all for assistance.

I just had new Onyx (a form of marble) countertops installed. They stain very easily and I heard it is possible to use a high quality pure carnauba wax to protect them. There are many polishes available for stone countertops that have carnauba in them but based on how it polishes cars I would think it might be good for Onyx. Anyone know?

Just had a complete refit on my bathroom & main prioty was having a decent power shower, however just tried it out & feel a bit disappointed! The basin tap & bath tap seem ok however, could it be the type of shower head that makes the pressure seem slower??

We got a couch from a friend, but it's too wide for the door by 1/2 and inch. The way the apartment works, you go up a flight of stairs then the door is at the right, so there isn't a lot of wiggle space. We unhinged the door, which didn't work.

Someone recommended taking off the door molding which scares us. Anyone ever done this? Hoisting through a window is not an option. Thanks!

I've moved into this house on a main road and the windows are single glazed so my room is pretty noisy. I've been sleeping (just!) but I'm worried that I won't be getting good quality sleep. Shall I demand that my landlord double glazes the windows or will I just get used to it?

We moved into a brand new house 9 mo. ago, with a partially finished basement. The bedroom in the basement has a walk in closet which seems to be where this bad smell is the worst. The closet is unfinished, (concret floor & open ceiling) with all the pipes & stuff showing, not to mention it's directly underneath the master bath. We run a dehumidifier constantly, an ionic air purifier, and have plug in air fresheners down there. Sometimes the smell is hardly noticeable, but recently its flared up again. I feel bad for my step-daughter who has to sleep in there. Any clues on the problem or what to do?? I also smell it sometimes in master bedroom and located it to be strongest at the wall vent.

I planted a few hostas in my garden and the slugs seem to be feasting on them right down to their veins. Is there a humane way to get rid of slugs? I'd hate to use anything that kills them.

And how can I get rid of them?
I live in the city and and I've been looking all over my flat if there are any nests, but can't find any. Where do they grow? I read in a previous question that they don't like essential oils, which I am using, but why did they suddenly appear? I didn't have them last year I keep my flat very tidy, but it is an old flat.

We're renovating in New Orleans and hadn't been able to stain our new front doors. Now I'm noticing little mold or mildew spots? What's the best way to remove them so that I don't damage the wood?

We moved into our brand new townhouse in May 2006. They contain 6 units per building, the garages are underneath, and there are two floors above the garage. We are noticing 1 to 2 inch long cracks showing up in the corners of half the windows, cracks down the corners of a couple walls and other places in corners and edges. Could it just be in the paint? We are also noticing the drywall screw heads are starting to show, like they are easing out and the paint cracking around the heads. We live in Nevada, these townhomes are build on hills. Also, when we walk on the master bedroom floor it has squeeking of the board beneath. You can hear it from the rooms below. Are these things to worry about?
