I just had new Onyx (a form of marble) countertops installed. They stain very easily and I heard it is possible to use a high quality pure carnauba wax to protect them. There are many polishes available for stone countertops that have carnauba in them but based on how it polishes cars I would think it might be good for Onyx. Anyone know?

That's exactly what we do here at home, we use a good quality carnauba wax at least twice a week, we don't have stains at all, but you have to maintain the countertop..☺

Your budget is a challenge, but for something durable and inexpensive what about polished concrete? There's lots of people using that for countertops now - it's poured in place with the proper forms & can be stained, stamped, etc. Not sure how much it would be to have someone do it for you (probably way more than your budget allows) but it's a good option if you don't want laminate or tile and can't afford granite or marble.

I would simply use Johnson's Clear because it will not leave a yellowish residue that, via buildup, will basically change the beautiful color of your countertops!

to avoid any problems ruining your investment, I would stick to the manufactures recommendation. This will also keep your warranty in force
