I just heard that when filling nail holes in drywall that instead of using Polyfilla you can use tooth paste. Suppose to work. Has anyone else heard about this?

I've got those electric baseboard heaters all around the basement but I also have a monitor, which I prefer to use. I don't want to use the electric heaters, and there's an outlet I need to use that's on the same circuit. I thought I could disconnect the thermostat and that would disable them - would that work?

I'm trying to convert a hand crank meat grinder into an electric one. I know that the motor and grinder need to be connected by 2 pulleys and a wheel. The motor I have is a 1/3 HP and comes from a dishwasher. There is some kind of coil in the wiring before the current gets to the motor. Do I need this coil/capacitor for the motor to work or can I just splice the motor to an electric cord and add an on/off switch?

I am replacing the toilet in my bathroom.

After I take it out, I plan on laying down a 3/4" piece of plywood to strengthen the floor. Then I'm going to tile it with 1/4" inch thick self-adhesive tile. Giving me a grand total of one inch of added heighth.

Don't I have to extend the flange, that the toilet bolts to, one inch to compensate? How do I do that? Do they make extensions? What do I need to know before I go and ask for the extension (if they make one)?

My bedroom has dark, dusty blue carpet. I have white walls except for one wall that has gry/wht paneling. it's horrible. I have a dark wood bed and that's about it. Oh, and the best part...I have an a/c unit that sticks out of my wall by about a foot and is about 2 feed wide. It's brown and has a hideous cord haning down. I can't paint or do anything to perm. Detailed ideas very very very appreciated as I don't have time for creativity anymore. Pictures would be great, too!!!

I live in Tennessee. We've been experiencing a week and a half of unseasonably warm weather. For instance, it's supposed to get up to 74 degrees F today, November 29th. I looked out at my garden and saw that the new Dutch Discovery Iris bulbs I put in late October are poking out!

Will they survive the winter? It is forecast to get down below freezing by Friday. Can I please have some advice to keep them from dying through the freeze because they have already started to sprout?

My sister thinks she is destined NOT to own a garden gnome.
I thought that I could find one for her in time for Christmas, but it is proving to be impossible! I live in the GTA so, anywhere within an hours drive, I will go.

My dad has saw things you can buy that fit down in the space between a stove and cabinet so food doesn't fall or spill down between it. I looked at Walmart which is where he saw them a while ago but after looking and asking two associates I couldn't find them. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? and what they are actually called? Also where can I buy them?

So i'm a design student and need to design a viral ad campaign for Ikea.

The idea is to encourage new customers (female, aged 20-35) to shop at Ikea and create loyalty amongst existing customers of the same age.

Are you 20-35? Consider yourself to be style-conscious?

Do you buy from Ikea?
If not, why?
If so, why?

What keeps you going back to Ikea for products?

What would encourage you to shop there?
