Just keep the colors light and breezy. You want the illusion of water and wind. Maybe you can use a beach mat on the floor, shutters on the windows, a bench against the wall painted white. I did my bedroom this way, and yes I have a shell collection as well, they sit in a low basket on the floor. I don't have an ocean view, but I have a river view and that works nicely. Don't forget the artwork. Not lighthouses but beach sand and surf.

One suggestion that I have in my bathroom is to purchase or collect seashells and display them in a glass jar. I collected sand from Florida and put it at the bottom of the jar to add to the beach theme. Also, I found a sand dollar and opened the back to get the 5 birds(or doves, angels what ever they call them) out. I took a old piece of wood and glued the sand dollar story to it. I hung the sand dollar with hemp string and pasted the doves to the wood. Great decoration Idea! Hope this helps.

I got some small rugs at BBB that are flip flops in the sand...just find something beach and steal the colors and go for fabrics on the bed and window in bright orange and green and yellow and blue then add shell pictures and shells and flamingos and flip flops(rugs, bulletin board) or hang grass skirts for curtains or hang beach towels or make pillows from beach towels...have fun

i would keep it simple and NOT silly- who wants beach ballsaround or sand or sawdust on the floors? maybe think beach resort- pastel blues, tourquoise, sunny yellows, deep foliage greens, white and creams- crisp linens, shells, and personalized photographs of the you and your loved ones at the beach. maybe buy some tropical plants, but only if you'll keep it alive and cared for. we're drawn to the beach because its relaxing- so have that be the focus of the room- soft colors, relaxing furniture/pillows- and real plant life- sounds beautiful to me... undersources i included links to pics of nice beach resort rooms...
