My upstairs neighbors are very noisy. Do you know if there is anything I could put on the ceiling myself (without my landlord's help) like some type of layer that I could stick on the ceiling. Please let me know.
Thanks.

My garden plot is well-drained, with slightly chalky soil and in a very sunny position.

I'd like to grow some structural/ornamental plants there.

I like the idea of ornamental grasses - like the black varieties - but not tall growing grasses like Pampas.

What other structural, low-lying grasses could I plant there?

Are there flowers/plants that would go particularly well with the black grass AND thrive in these soil conditions?

(Climate: South East England)

The pipes in my place are made of either PVC and Copper, now the temp outside is close to 22f, and obviously one of my PVC pipe is frozen. I am worry about the pipe may go bursted...I believe I once heard someone said that PVC pipe is in fact stronger than copper one and the chances for PVC pipe to burst is relatively low. I wonder if it's true that PVC pipe is less vulnerable?

I have a Victorian dump which is green with white lace flowers inside. The object is so I was led to believe over a hundred years old, somebody has said it is a reproduction. How can I tell. The base is rough to touch, it leans to one side and it has what feels like grip marks when you hold it. There is one virtually identical in the Sunderland winter garden museum.

i have an a.o. glass water heater. it no longer works, and i need someone who is willing to either repair or replace it (like i buy a new one & pick it up, they install) and take the old one away all for less than 600 bucks. any suggestions? are these "permit" and "shut off" fees sears quoted me really necessary?

I have a contemporary style backyard with some custom planters in the corner that measure 3 feet tall, with a 2ft x 2ft opening on the top. I am looking for a nice tall tree or plant to put in them that would add shade to my yard and fit the contemporary motif. I'm not sure which tall plants would grow well within such a constrained pot/planter. I was thinking some species of bamboo, but I am clueless when it comes to botany. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I live in Houston, so it has to be something appropriate for a more hot, humid, rainy climate (+/- a few colder days in the winter). I would prefer something low maintenance and hardy.

Thanks in advance!
