I have a Victorian dump which is green with white lace flowers inside. The object is so I was led to believe over a hundred years old, somebody has said it is a reproduction. How can I tell. The base is rough to touch, it leans to one side and it has what feels like grip marks when you hold it. There is one virtually identical in the Sunderland winter garden museum.

When I read that you had a Victorian dump, I thought at first that you owned an old house.
I'm not sure what a "dump" is in the glassware sense, but some glassware can be very difficult to date, and you need a real expert to do it. There are dealers who specialise in glass, but they can be hard to find - try the antique dealers' associations BADA or LAPADA, and they might be able to suggest someone in your area.

why don't you ring Sunderland Museum and make an appointment to take it in - if it is the same as the one on display then they will have information about it already
