I have one of those stoves where the elements are covered with a flat surface which is made of ceramic (I think) and there are stains that just won't go away, even though they look like burn marks they are not, the stove is practically brand new. We were told that this was not a problem anymore with this kind of stove top. We tried everything, including a ceramic cleaner to no avail. Anyone know what to do?

In my student room, a previous tenant has painted a thick blue border on a white wall. I want to paint over it in white, but as I've never painted a wall I have no idea what paint type to use! Will it be possible to paint over it completely or will the blue show through?
