I just heard that when filling nail holes in drywall that instead of using Polyfilla you can use tooth paste. Suppose to work. Has anyone else heard about this?

yes, many times...but it is usually intended as a quick solution to a stray nail hole or such. I wouldn't replace wood filler, etc with toothpaste. It will eventually fall out, since toothpaste wasn't designed to use as a filler. The moisture will evaporate and eventually it will lose it's holding power and fall out.

Yes, I've done this on the walls of apartments I've lived in when I was about to move and needed to fill the nail holes! I don't think I'd do this on my own home though, I'd invest in some nail filler or spackle or whatever. You always seem to take more care when the place belongs to you~

Yes, I've done this quite a few times. Fills tiny wholes like nail holes from hanging pictures, things like that. Nothing major. As long as you use "paste" not gel, and let it dry up a little before applying, works great!

I've heard of it and it is supposed to be used for small holes if absolutely neccesary. Toothpaste is sticky and gooy and difficult to get a smooth surface.

It takes a lot longer for the toothpaste to dry and it is not structurally sound when it does dry.

Stick with the normal spackling filler.

good luck.
