Just had a complete refit on my bathroom & main prioty was having a decent power shower, however just tried it out & feel a bit disappointed! The basin tap & bath tap seem ok however, could it be the type of shower head that makes the pressure seem slower??

Most likely it has a water saving piece inside. Take it apart and look for a small plastic washer-type piece that basically serves to reduce the flow of water.

I have taken this out of all of my shower heads and love it.

Did you remove the water saving devise in the shower head? It looks like a washer. Just pull it out with needlenose pliers.
