Any other tips on keeping it healthy until Christmas? Are there any kind of special treatments added to the water to help it out?

You should be able to find a bottle of additive to keep it fresh longer. This is available in most places that sell real Christmas Trees, this includes retailers like Target or Home Depot. It is usually found in the garden center where the trees are sold.

You need to keep water in the tree stand at all times, it should be kept very full on a constant basis. You should also make sure that a new fresh cut was made on the trunk prior to putting it in water. If it hasn't been cut since it was cut since it was cut down at the tree farm then it won't absorb water as well. During transit and while waiting for sale it can seal itself. So a fresh cut promptly before being placed in water will keep that area open and able to absorb the water.

Ensure that your home isn't too warm because that will dry out the tree much more quickly. Artificial heat is very drying. If you have a humidifier it also helps to run it.

Happy Holidays!

Add a little 7-Up to the water. It will make it more vibrant and last longer (btw, this works for flowers too). Make sure that there is always water in the base, I would check it daily to make sure.
