Some think that suburban life is a great strain. The hellish commuting, road rage, ugly big box stores, endless copies
of the same franchises(Chili's, Best Buy, Applebees, ect.),
bratty kids that seem miserable and don't listen to anyone,
crabby SUV-navigating soccer moms, and lastely, not knowing
your neighbors....to me, the saddest thing is when suburbanities
come home to their cookie-cutter McMansion and click the garage
door closed, as if they are actually turning off the outside world
like a television.....these characteristics were already here in
70's suburban-land when I grew up, but now it's much worse.
Now kids have no independence, and are monitored electronically
like cattle with RFID tags. We used to go bike-riding for miles
(without those stupid little helmets) for miles by 3rd grade.
We had streets and sidewalks to play on. Now, new subdivisions
have no sidewalks, and there is no way for kids to get anywhere
cause things are so sprawled out.....so sad.....

I have just purchased my first house and am looking to rent a room out. Its a 3 bedroomed property with courtyard style garden. They will have use of everything ie. washing m/c, cooker, internet connection etc, utility bills would be included except weekly shop. House is based in Downham Market, Norfolk and has just been totally refurbished with all new equipment etc.

Last year we put in a new bathroom and we noticed a few weeks ago a chemical smell coming from the facet. What's weird is that the small ONLY affects the bathroom faucet and no other part of our place. I took off the aerator and noticed a few green granular balls right on the aerator. I removed the balls and the smell drastically improved for a few days, but the smell came back and now it is worse. The smell has a more of chemical smell like grass. The smell comes from both hot or cold water from the bathroom faucet. What makes this unusal is that the faucet is only 1 year old and the bathroom was gutted out a year ago.
Could the smell be coming from a corroded faucet or pipe?
Any ideas appreciated.

Ok: here's the situation:

I have something in my dining room that looks like a washing machine hookup (two taps *like garden taps that would be in the yard*, and some kind of drain hole). The washing machine and dryer are actually out in the garage.

What I am wanting to do is hook a convertible dishwasher to this space because to put one in my kitchen would be an expensive and difficult undertaking.

When I asked about this at Lowe's, they said that had no idea if such a converter existed that would allow me to do such a thing (apparently the type of dishwasher I need is meat to hook straight to a kitchen sink and wouldn't work with the type of tap-things I have in this connection).

Can I do what I am wanting to do? If so, how should I go about this?

Thanks!

I'm just about to move into a lovely rented property - however the bathroom is very small and a bit dark. The suite is white but looking its age and so are the tiles. The walls are white too and newly painted. Any suggestions on brightening up the space without spending too much money as its rented?

I'm just about to move into a rented place that has a dingy though clean bathroom. The suite is old, the room is small and dark. The room is white with white tiles but just needs some cheering up. As its rented I don't want to spend a fortune - any suggestions on how to improve and brighten the 'smallest room'?

My apartment has a concrete floor. last time I painted it, within a year the paint had started to chip and peel off. Is there a special type of paint or some form of sealant I can put on top of the paint to slow this from happening?

I look after a house that has an infiniti pool.. there is a trough in which the spillage water goes into, but once in the trough, it never seems to exit and get sent back into the pool. Isn't that what is supposed to happen with the over flow water.. is there something I should be looking for in the pump house.. the filter system is on, water is coming out thru the jets, but the water is not coming from the trough.. Help the pool is brand new, and I think there is something major wrong with it.
