I'm moving into a new house soon and the bathroom is completely white, though looks quite old and dirty.
As we have to spend a lot of money on the rest of the house, we haven't got much in the budget for the bathroom so I'm planning on jazzing it up without spending too much.
I haven't used tile transfers or tile paint before, but am going to have a look at them. Our tiles are all plain white so need brightening up. Otherwise, will leave the tiles as they are and just paint the rest of the walls.
Also considering putting some tounge and groove half way up the walls to make it a bit more modern.
Got some nice accessories like towel hooks and toothbrush holders that weren't much and should hopefully make a difference too. Also, going to get a nice blind with matching towels.

1. Get a good mirror. I think you can take that away when you move on, so that should be OK.
2. Get some good lights in. Some of those could be, I guess, portable too...
3. I found it pretty nice when the bathroom at my rented place (also an old and somewhat dingy, though not dark, room) started smelling well. And I mean some aromatherapy soap bars, left in just for the smell, and things like that.
4. Perhaps a jolly shower curtain could help?
And do keep it clean.

If you replace the faucett on the sink it will improve the look without spending a lot. Also keeping the bathroom extremely clean helps a lot. Dry the faucett so it stays shiny and new looking. A good light also helps. Could you add a floor lamp that will brighten but you could then take it with you when you move. Also if you save the old faucett from the sink you could reinstall that and take the new one with you.

Change the light bulb to a higher voitage so it'd make the room brighter. Also clean the bathroom, as so colour floor matts and change the shower curtains if your shower consist of that. Add some candles to the bench and those lovely scented oil burning pots.

if the tiles are ok then brighten them with some transfers. A new pine toilet seat and pine bath panel will make a world of difference and only cost a few quid

Bring in some colour using accessories, such as towels, a fake but nice plant, some shells or candles. You could also hang a picture on the wall, nothing expensive just a cheap one.
