I look after a house that has an infiniti pool.. there is a trough in which the spillage water goes into, but once in the trough, it never seems to exit and get sent back into the pool. Isn't that what is supposed to happen with the over flow water.. is there something I should be looking for in the pump house.. the filter system is on, water is coming out thru the jets, but the water is not coming from the trough.. Help the pool is brand new, and I think there is something major wrong with it.

Off hand, without seeing how they plumbed it, there ought to be a separate valve on the suction side of the pump (front), labelled as either vannishing edge, overflow or something of that nature. It may be shut. I'd leave it alone, until the owners get back. If you open that valve too much, you could cause the pump to lose it's prime, turning this into a worse situation. If you're in doubt, call a pool pro. The bill the owner gets can be justified by the possible prevention of a problem. Your call.

Edit: Oneblonde, that fella that answered and had his answer removed is not a Canadian, but an American who is getting his kicks out of harassing anyone participating in Travel Canada. He's already been banned under one user name and has two more that will be banned shortly. Please don't confuse him with an actual Canadian. The guy is starting to stalk people.
