What is the difference?

Is the blade on the left or right side of the handel? Or is it just how the bevel is set?

they make both...most saws are left handed but they do make righties and a saw called a worm drive which places the handel much farther back and is much easier to use for right handed people

You can get either. Porter Cable makes a very nice saw with the blade on the left. Most saws have the blade mounted on the right, and are meant for use by lefties and righties.

I'm a righthanded carpenter have been at it for 30 years and I prefer my Porter Cable saw with the blade on the left, better control of the cut.

Porter Cable makes a model that is either left or right which ever you prefer, I worked with a guy who had both.
