I'm 20 years old, and ever since I was a young teenager, I've been having periods of sharp pain in my chest. When I have these pains, it only hurts when I'm inhaling. The deeper breath I take, the more this stabbing feeling in my chest digs. It usually only lasts around 30 seconds or so. I get them two or three times a day when I have them, but I'll go a month or so without having them. It's like the "spell" lasts for a few days, and then goes away. My mother blew it off as "growing pains" when I was younger, but now that I'm older it really concerns me. I'm overall a healthy individual. Sitting does not help, nor does drinking water. I just have to stand aside and take tiny, short breaths and wait until the pain goes away. Is there something wrong, or is that totally normal?
