I've never had either but have heard both are pretty painful

a tooth ache is worse, I don't mean painwise (but it could be worse that way also) but a tooth ache with infection in the bad tooth can lead to a heart attack.

i have had both and a toothache to me was more memorable. wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
