My friend who had an operation to put in a rod to help heal a bone fracture in lower leg --- fibula and tibia --- is supposed to have been given a general anaesthesia mixed in food, as I heard from someone. I need to know what kind of general anaesthesia would this be? He said the doctor kept slapping him to wake him up saying the surgery is over.

Is this anaesthesia enough to put in a rod or would he also have received local anaesthesia? below his waist for the entire lower body or only down the knee on which the operation was held?

Where is the anaesthesia for below the waist given?

With general anaes. would he be reuired to receive catheterisation for unrination? with anaesthesia below the waist?

I get very bad earache in cold, windy weather. Obviously, it's the cold and wind tht sets the earache off, but until 10 years ago I didn't have a problem with it, and most people don't seem to have such a problem. Is there anything that makes one person more prone to it than another, and is there anything I can do about it (other than permanently attach ear muffs?)

I have to use the computer alot, and I'm sitting properly, but whenever I get up from the computer to do something, my elbows and forearm "pop" and they feel like I was holding something heavy for an extremely long time. I do have mild tendonitis, but I've been doing the stretches, hot/cold water immersion, putting big ice packs on my forearm for as much as I can. When I sit back down to type or use the mouse my forearms become sore, even if I've completed a stretch, water and ice routine. My forearms are flat on the table. Sometimes when I wake up my forearms pop to.

Is anyone familiar with massages that relieve pain on your forearm and elbow? I know that my elbows are tender because when I press lightly against the underside of my elbow it slightly hurts. Thanks!

I'm 23 F. I recently started experiencing back pain... oddly I think it was as a result of being in a Pilates class during which I slightly overstretched my back muscles.

Anyhow, the pain has not gone away for about a month and I am slightly freaking out. Now if I sit straight up and twist myself from side to side, I hear a grinding noise. Does anyone know why this is happening? I started noticing it today.

Of course, this is terrible timing because I recently quit my job and now do not have any form of decent health insurance. I'm interested in hearing any suggestions as to what my problem is and what remedies may exist for it (home remedies and professional remedies welcome).

I take 8 Hydrocodone 10/325 daily for chronic back pain. I just had a my screening recently and it came up with no hydrocodone, but lots of oxymorphone. Doctor said they changed labs recently to get more accurate results. Any answers as to how this is possible would be nice to hear.

One from the Doctor is that the hydrocodone could, at the level I am taking be bordering on enough to make it like an oxymorphone or something like that.

Anyone with knowledge would be appreciated.

Please, just keep jokes to yourself for this one!

Thanks!!

It is only on one foot, usually my right. They feel so tight and moving them hurts (almost like a very strong bruising sensation)until the feeling goes away.

To all who have answered this whole pot question, I HAVE tried everything, the duragesic codones, contins, pain clinics, relaxation, music, hot bath, nerve pills, anti-depressants, I am on over 20 medications now. Funny thing if you could see me you would never know, unless you really look that I am suffering so much. Oh and I pray and I pray.Lord, make it go away...and let someone else be like me............

I have this Pain just above my right ear that covers an area about the size of my fist. The only way i could describe this pain is hot, but not horribly so. In all truth it doesnt really bother me, pain wise, but it more bothers me with the question of what it is. We all have heard those stories of people that had something really bad, like say a tumor, and never had it diagnosed untill the advanced stages. Now granted when i first got this pain 2 years ago i told my doctor and i went in for an MRI and X-rays of my back and neck and the only thing they found was a little bit of "liguid" in the area of the pain, my doctor said it was nothing to worry about, but now that it is back again, im slightly worried. Even if it turns out to be un-needed fear i would still like to have some opinions from other people, and maybe something to look into.

I asked the question about pot. I can tell who is really suffering and who works in a pain clinic. I am almost 40 years old. I was born with arthritis and diagnosed when I was 7. Every joint in my body is deformed. My tibias are rotated. My arms are rotated. I have had over 46 surgeries due to arthritis. The last one I almost died. I'm damn tired of taking pills and I hate the taste of pot-but it helps better than anything I've tried in 40 years. I have Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, adult rheumatoid arth(they are very different) spinal stenosis, TMJ, osteoporosis, soft tissue disease, tendonitis, bursitis, rheumatoid nodules that cause me much pain, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, everywhere anything connects or doesn't is where I hurt. the only thing that doesn't hurt is my damn nose. My skulll hurts because I have bumps like knots in your back only they are all over my head and they hurt. I can hardly walk and have been in and out of my electric wheelchair for years at a time. But hey

I am so tired of suffering. I am on the max narcotics for pain and pot works better. Why won't they think of something better? The morphine doesn't cut it anymore and neither does the methadone. I have over 12 chronic painful conditions. Help me please. Any ideas welcome.

The dr did not offer anything except physical therapy. I've done that, it helps, but the pain quickly returns. Is there some type of surgery to help? This has worsened to the point of waking me from deep sleep with pain. If it is touched (even brushed by the hem of slacks), I cringe with pain. Any feedback will be appreciated. I must make an aggressive decision soon. Thanks for the help.
