I injured my left knee (sprain) during a sporting event 6 weeks ago. First few days I followed the self-care directions (cold packs, elevated above heart while sleeping, no load on the weak knee etc.). There is no significant pain but when I wake every morning there is stiffness, swelling in the knee area and a dull pain until I warm up with some strech exercises. After a warm shower it is ok. But by evening, the pain is back with a bit of swelling.

What advice you have for me to get back strength in my knees. I am dying to get back to my favorite sport - Tennis.

If I sleep less than that, I am so tired all day that I can't think, and I just try not to fall asleep and can't enjoy anything. I am 19 years old, this isn't right. I did horrible last semester at college because I had to wake up at 6:45. I couldn't pay attention in class and would immediately go back to my dorm to sleep. I've tried going to bed early at night but my body won't let me sleep until around 10:30 at the absolute earliest. I just have to sleep through the morning there's no other solution, but why????? I know it's a waste of a day sleeping through half of it, but it's even more of a waste if I'm so tired during the awake part.

I was hit by a car two months ago and got the cast only a month after the accident because it wasnt stable (besides i have a rod and 5 screws in there now). Went to see surgeon a couple of days ago and he said it was ok, but i didnt see absolutely no changes in x-rays. (two biggest brakes have about 5mm space between parts of the bone).
Are those spaces supposed to be there that big at all?
And according to my surgeon i am gona have the cast on for 3-4 months total. There is no muscle already after just a month. What is gona be there in 2-3 more?

I woke up at 2:30 this morning with a "crying in a dark room" migraine. For some reason, although watching the usual assortment of late night infomertials (you insomniacs out there will understand perfectly) did nothing to alleive the pain, playing a video game on the computer actually did. Did I just distract the centers of the brain that were causing the migraine by giving them something else to occupy them? I feel pretty stupid asking, but go find a doctor at 3:00 am when you don't have insurance.....Thanks ever so!

I've come off HRT patches but the hot flushes and night sweats have returned. If I keep on having disturbed sleep, I'm going to revert to the mad axewoman I was years ago before I got HRT! HELP! I restrict myself to one cup of tea upon awakening, one cup of good coffee mid-morning, and a maximum of 2 glasses of red wine in the evening. I don't use sugar and seldom eat anything using refined flour. I've heard Rose Hip and St John's Wort can help. I'm prepared to do almost anything to get through this and out the other end with my sanity intact! Only, when will it all end? Please, someone out there, tell me it won't last forever!

I looked in the other questions and did not find an answer. All the references I saw for plantar fasciitis talk about the heel, and that is not where my pain is. It is right in the middle of the sole of my foot when I put weight on my foot a certain way, and especially if I put weight on my toes. It feels like a pulling that is shocky or stingy. What could it be, and how is it treated? I have not put any unusual stress on it, but have begun a workout program that I don't want to stop. Any answers?

I am planning to have my ears pierced. No big deal huh?? It is for me. I see my friends have problems like infection and I don't want that. People of my grandmother's and my mom's generation used natural methods like millet rubbing and needles and it is interesting they had no problems.
Here lots of people say if you wear silver studs at the beginning you will have no problem but my American friends strongly recommend golden studs. What is your opinion??

I intend to see my doctor tomorrow, but I need to know if I should be doing more tonight.

I lost my footing today and landed hard on my left knee cap. I came straight down, nothing twisted or bent the wrong direction. I suspect it's nothing more than a very deep bruise because I was able to hike the half mile back out of the canyon with little trouble. (The downhill bits hurt more than the uphill bits, if that means anything.) Since I got home, I cleaned the abrasion with peroxide, and have been applying ice at intervals. I took 400 mg of Ibuprophen about 6 hours ago, no other meds. And I've been staying off of it for the most part and keeping it elevated. It is currently slightly swollen, not much in the way of visible bruising, but it now hurts like hell to try to put my weight on it. (I'm using crutches.)
Should I wrap it? Is there anything else I should be doing?
I appreciate any help... again I'm seeing my doc for x-rays tomorrow.

First i gotta ask to give serious answers to a serious question.
I had a huge argument with psycho ex cuz she's still living with me and won't leave and I went to the gym... in my state of rage i lifted really heavy and really hard to vent out my anger.... now i've been cursed with this huge hemeroid the next day after (great now i got two lol) ... its been like two weeks and its hasn't gone away. It was like really bad and now is smaller but it still hasn't gone away and i'm begining to get worried. It doesn't hurt or itch like they can get but still worried its not going away. I stopped weight lifting since and i'm getting edgy not going to the gym... why hasn't it gone away? I don't want to go to the doctor any other idea's?

My massage therapist wants me to do structural integration. I have fallen arches, I suffer from IT in my left knee, I run and cycle and am really hurting these days. The left side of my body is really tense even though my right side is dominant. She has done it and said it worked for her, she did my feet a little bit tonight and she said it was working. I can't tell, but then again, I am not very in tune with that kind of stuff.

I googled Structural Integration, and there are a lot of links, but nothing really saying firmly if it works or not. I would like to hear definitive no's too, otherwise, I am worried that it is not drastic enough for the cost.

Make sense? Help!

She had surgery 2 weeks ago to have an appendectomy and they found a large ruptured hemorragoric ovarian cyst, there was also a 2cm hole in her ovary. They have been unsuccessful in giving her anything that works for pain other than in hospital iv or injections. She also has a new ovarian cyst on the same ovary now. Please help me to now what to ask the doctor to do with her pain. she has been sufferring with this since January 28th. I was told that her body does not respond to the normal ones...ie: percocet, vicodin, codine and such...but because of her age, I get the same response which is "pain meds are addicting" and I understand that, but she is on excruciating pain constantly with nothing working. I controll all her meds as well. I give them to her as scheduled...of anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it!

I have this pain in my wrist, its deep and its on the underside of my wrist just above my hand, right down the middle... if feels like a blood problem. My husband says its not carpol tunnel, because his dad had it and its not any of my symptoms. Its this piercing pain, and is random that lasts for only a few seconds, and then comes back a couple minutes later.

Possibly carpal tunnel syndrome? This started happening in both of my hands around the same time. I've never had any symptoms of CTS like this before. I'm 20 yrs old. My mother has a slight calcium deficiency, like a mild brittle bone disorder.

I get a pain up to around each elbow in my arms and sometimes up to my shoulder. Sometimes my wrist kind of burns and a lot of the time the back of my hand aches. Seems to effect mostling the pinky-side of my hands and my pinky fingers. I didn't figure CTS because it started in both wrists on pretty much the same day. I'm on the PC maybe 2 hours a day. I work in a pharmacy, screwing lids on pill bottles and typing for most of my day. This has been going on for about a week now and I have yet to see a doctor because I have no insurance. I should also note that I play about 15+ hours of videogames a week.

Sorry if that sounded like a run-on, I'm trying to get as much out there as I can to see if anyone might offer any help.

This morning I woke up with a dull pain in my right lower stomach. It has lasted all day and the pain increases when I move or press on my stomach. It is not severe or even that painful, but if it is appendicitis, I don't want to wait until it is too late. I have not run a fever, but I have not been hungry all day. What could it be and when should I go to the doctor to have it checked out?

Okay, today, as I was preparing to lay in the tannning bed, the bed went on, exposing the light to my eyes. I then accidentaly looked at the lights again as I was trying to turn the machine off. I know the lights can cause blindness. Afterwards, as I drove home, I felt double vision and my eyes bouncing. Will I be okay? I did wear goggles though, but just the tiny moments I looked at the light.

i tripped and hit my big toe on a stair really hard and it hurt really, really badly. it's been about a week and it still hurts on the joint and just below, on the bone. There is a small bump on the bone that hurts when I put light pressure on it. Sometimes when I walk, it hurts a lot and also, when I wore some 3 inch heels, it hurt pretty badly. It doesn't hurt like crazy anymore, but could it be fractured or jammed? what do you think?
