I woke up at 2:30 this morning with a "crying in a dark room" migraine. For some reason, although watching the usual assortment of late night infomertials (you insomniacs out there will understand perfectly) did nothing to alleive the pain, playing a video game on the computer actually did. Did I just distract the centers of the brain that were causing the migraine by giving them something else to occupy them? I feel pretty stupid asking, but go find a doctor at 3:00 am when you don't have insurance.....Thanks ever so!

darfy, some migraines are caused or aggravated by allergic process, perhaps breathing close to a pillow with chicken or down feathers.it could also be caused by some snacky you chomped on or chugged before tryna get zs,or maybe chemicals, such as benzoic acid, blue dye & food color, red dye.the usual drivel off the boob toob would be sleep in a darkened room ,avoid caffeine, have a glass of warm milk, more bs like that.another thing that might be a problem(only if foods are a factor, you've gotta eliminate each of these, one at a time, till you find out yea or nay).good luck kiddo. qpw

Sometimes doing something you like or something that will hold your attention will relieve the headache associated with migraine. Nobody knows why that happens. If you get migraine headaches regularly then you should definitely see a doc about them. There are some very good medications for migraine.
