Hi all!
I'm 22 and for about the past 7 hours I have been throwing up 1 to 2 times every hour. I think the vomitting has no stopped but I'm still naseaous. I'm afraid to eat something or drink something that's going to make me throw up b/c I'm now throwing up yellow stomach bile. Also in between the throwing up I've had diarreah Any advice would be great!

thanks so much

Thanks so far, I have some Ginger Ale so I tihnk I may start off sipping on that. Oh and to answer one of your questions I do not have a fever. One more thing, my insurance only covers me if I'm emitted to the ER...so if I go to the ER w/ a stomach flu is this considered that?

Hang on, poor thing!

One thing to clarify is define diarrhea. Is it just one-time squishy brown poop? Or is it over and over spicy mustard looking spray paint. True diarrhea that is dangerous is LIQUID and there is not much poopy color to it, and it SHOOTS out. You start to get dehydrated after a while, because there is nothing left to poop OUT so you just start losing the water that your colon was going to give back to you.

I don't mean to insult you, I just want to make sure you know that you may have less to worry about if you really aren't losing a lot of fluid.

The reason diarrhea and vomiting together are dangerous is because you get dehydrated. Even so, if you can ride it out and let it get out of your system, you are better off than letting whatever poison stay in your body by blocking the exits so to speak.

SOO. You may want to firm up the stools a little bit with the BRAT diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. Easy on the stomach. Should help with the runs and help you get a little more control??, without constipating you.

You also need to KEEP trying to hydrate, even if you are nauseous. Weak tea, water, gatorade, 7 up, coke may settle your stomach and help dilute the bile that you are feeling...which is a digestive acid, it must be very harsh on your tender tummy if it is not digesting any food! When you get to the point of dry heaves it is so unpleasant. I would rather throw up SOMETHING than nothing anyday.

When you get to the point where you can take an uninterrupted bath, then fill the tub with comfortably warm-hot water and dump a whole carton of epsom salts in it. Soak for 20-30 minutes, then shower off with a good soap, and wash your hair. All this will help you feel better on the outside, but also is a detox for your insides.

Gosh I hope you feel better soon.

First and foremost, stay hydrated. I suggest Gatorade if you have any; it's very mild, and is good for replacing the electrolytes you lose when you throw up or have diarrhea. Don't eat until you're ready, but do drink liquid, even if you throw it right back up. Your body MUST stay hydrated to help you heal. When you start eating again, start slow - crackers, jello, chicken broth, etc. Avoid milk and milk products for about 48 hours after your last episode of vomiting; also avoid fatty things.

I feel I must add that I believe it is unwise to take medications to stop the diarrhea and vomiting, as some other responses have suggested. Your body is getting rid of the material in your gut for a reason. If you retain it by using medicines, you run the risk of having this occur all over again.

Good luck, and feel better soon!

Get to the store... or get someone you know to get to the store and buy you a little liquid medicine called Ementrol. You take a spoonful of it when you feel like barfing. And each time you barf or feel like barfing. It works wonders in stopping you from barfing.

Next, you MUST get rehydrated. Drink Gatorade, or something like it, to replace electrolytes and fluids. If either of these things (Ementrol and/or replacing fluids) is out of your reach at this time, then get to a hopsital emergency room... call yourself an ambulance if necessary... and they will give you phenigren (sp.?) for the nausea and an I.V. to replace the fluids.

**EDIT** Not sure about the ER/insurance thing... I would think that if they treat you in the ER, that counts. Either way... get yourself well first, then figure out how to pay afterwards.

I had this a few months ago..sounds like a stomach flu or food poisoning...What worked for me was Pepto-bismol, sprite, and saltines..Just dont eat too many of them and try letting the sprite sit for a minute just to get some of the air bubble out. I know it sucks, girl! I also drink warm coca-cola when im neseaous..it helps.

Put your finger in your throat and, keep on throwing up. Your body is trying to get rid of something bad you ate so, by doing this you will get rid of the bad food you ate faster.
