General Health Care - February 2007

Anybody else heard of this before? How do you forget to breathe? I would have asked the doctor but it was an outpatient procedure and I wasn't exactly thinking straight at the time.

About a year ago, I had woken up with excruciating pain in my back and down my left leg followed by numbness. When I went to the doctor, I had an MRI done and I have a bulging disk that is sitting on my sciatic nerve (L5-S1) and he suggested surgery. My leg no longer hurts, but it is still numb. I have put off having the surgery because people that I know have had back surgery and have had bad experiences with it. I don't want to go to a chiropractor either because I don't want the disk to mess up more than it is and I'm not in pain. However, I have been getting severe headaches that start from the back up my neck, and to the sides where my temples are. Sometimes they are so bad that they make me nausous and all I can do is sleep. It usually takes a good day or so for the pain to go away. I hate having headaches and I'm thinking that my bulging disk is causing this. If so, do you think this type of surgery is safe? I don't want to be paralized if the surgery goes wrong lol

...on Feburary 9th and I went to the doctor and he said that I'm not going to go blind. My eye was bloodshot red that night. It is just pink now. (it looks like I have pink eye). He prescribed me some eye drops so it wont get an infection. I have been taking them religiously. But now when I try to read things up close, it seems somewhat blury. But I can see far away just fine. What do I do? Do you think my eye will be fine? I was shot about 25-30 in the eye feet from the airsoft gun. PLEASE HELP!

I can only get a pain free night if I sleep in a pile of pillows in the corner of the couch...Sort of half sitting....It feels like the mucles in between my ribs all the way around but maily in my back.....I have had no injuries....But If I sleep flat I am in so much pain after a few hours that I can barely roll over or take a deep breath...What is up with that!?....I'm only 36 slightly overweight but definitley not enough to have this kind of effect...What is it?

This has been happening for as long as 2 years now. I haven't thought much on it because I thought it was stress related, but now I wonder. I can sit around doing nothting, then BAM! it stikes. I feel a real sharp pain in my eyes and or head. Most of the time is blurrs my vision and the most painful ones cause me to stagger and lean over.

They normaly have a duration of 3-5 seconds and are gone as quickly as they came. They appear very randomly and have occured as long as 2 months inbetween each, and as short as 1day apart. Never more than once on that day.

I dont get nausious, I dont feel like im going to pass out. Its just an outright Pain that feels like pressure trying to escape through my eye sockets.

any ideas?

I am now 58yrs old,My medical history started with a major RTA when I was 17,impaled on a steering wheel hub,major abdominal surgery.
Whilst working with the Ambulance service I was stabbed in the chest by a drug addict,Major surgery on both lungs.
1992 major heart attack and arrest,1997 Stroke.2000 Heart Bypass,now to the question,
My GP thinks the bypass graft is breaking down and I am afraid he may suggest another graft with all the related pain ect and am getting to the stage were I think I have had enough and would rather let nature take its course.Am I right to chicken out,you can see from my profile i have had a good life despite all this,Thanks in advance for all serious answers.

Hi, does anyone know what causes sharp pain in the back of your neck? I haven't been in an accident, and I do have a few bumps on the back of my neck, but if I touch my neck at all it feels like a sharp pain like a pinched nerve. Does anyone have any suggestions?
