Okay, today, as I was preparing to lay in the tannning bed, the bed went on, exposing the light to my eyes. I then accidentaly looked at the lights again as I was trying to turn the machine off. I know the lights can cause blindness. Afterwards, as I drove home, I felt double vision and my eyes bouncing. Will I be okay? I did wear goggles though, but just the tiny moments I looked at the light.

your blink reflex to bright lights is probably good enough to keep any major damage.

If you still have problems after a few days then call an opthamologist.

I had the same thing happen to me when I got a tan for the first time. I didn't really know if I should have closed my eyes or not but out of curiosity I didn't. I began to feel a bit light headed after that but I cannot necessarily attribute it to the UV light. For one's safety it is preferable that we wear the goggles and avoid looking directly at the UV light inside the tanning bed.

You'll be fine. It shouldnt do any damage at all. Probably hurt because of the brightness and possibly straining of the eyes. They should have told you to wear the goggles as a safety precaution, although i know for a fact that some people dont. It's all good

I think you should be okay, although if you want to be safe, I would go to the eye doctor. I've looked at the light a few times (accidentally, like you) and the doctor hasn't noticed any vision issues.

I have looked at the lights a few times and I never had any problems after the initial spots

Don't think you will have any permanent damage based on years of seeing eye doctors and tanning without any negative effects detected from my tanning.

You will be OK, I have change the bulbs in the beds and you have to look at them to see if they work. You have to look at them for 20 to 30 mi. for it to hurt your eyes.

What difference does it make? Since you have decided to give yourself skin cancer by using a tanning machine, why do you need your eyes?
