i tripped and hit my big toe on a stair really hard and it hurt really, really badly. it's been about a week and it still hurts on the joint and just below, on the bone. There is a small bump on the bone that hurts when I put light pressure on it. Sometimes when I walk, it hurts a lot and also, when I wore some 3 inch heels, it hurt pretty badly. It doesn't hurt like crazy anymore, but could it be fractured or jammed? what do you think?

It could be either fractured or jammed. The only part that worries me is the bump on the bone. That could be a peice of fractured bone. You probably will need an x-ray.

Without the bump, I'd just say to wait for it to heal. They can't do much for either, except perhaps give you a plastic brace type thing to keep you from re-injuring it again (I do not have experience here).

If it's jammed back, perhaps they could pull it back out. I have a pinky finger that was jammed, (thought it was just sore). Now it's just slightly crooked but works fine.

I broke my toe once when I was a kid and had to have crutches. it hurts really bad. There is really no use going to the Dr. unless it is crooked because they really can't do anything for you. You should just wrap it up if you can against your foot and wear flip flops or something like that. Don't try to force it into heels. It will take a few weeks until it feels better.

I done had a few of them,,there is nothing the Doctor can do for it,besides give you some sorry @ss pain pills, and you don't seem like one to take pills...It is Purple or does it have a purple line running across it,,if so it is Broke or factured..tape it to the other toe,,Don't run on it for about 4 days,walk..it will take about 10 days for it to heal, but it will still be sore for a month, just don't bump into anything if possbile.

yes that could be a pretty good chance. if i were you i would try not to walk on it as much as you can and see a docter as soon as possible. if it starts to swell or turn another color, lay down and keep it elevated above your heart; put a bag of ice on it too.

get well soon!

You could probably have a fracture as there was no bleeding and there is a swelling. you have pains in that part. it is fracture.

tape it to the toe next to it, we call it buddy-taping. just put a little tissue between your toes to protect your skin.
