I looked in the other questions and did not find an answer. All the references I saw for plantar fasciitis talk about the heel, and that is not where my pain is. It is right in the middle of the sole of my foot when I put weight on my foot a certain way, and especially if I put weight on my toes. It feels like a pulling that is shocky or stingy. What could it be, and how is it treated? I have not put any unusual stress on it, but have begun a workout program that I don't want to stop. Any answers?

There could be several things, but I'm just really thinking of one here...
Check with your doctor about getting a foot examination. Quite often, I've noticed, people with this sort of pain have flat feet, falling arches, pronated feet (twisted inwards or outwards) etc. and don't even know it!

There's the possibility as well that the workout program is stretching the muscles in your feet in a way that you didn't realize... if this is the case, try stretching a little more before starting. It seems like such a small area, but it can hurt like the dickens if its pulled out of place.

I had a feeling similar to what you described, when I was younger. the only way I could put it into words is that it felt like something was 'poking its way out the bottom of my foot'. turns out both my feet are pronated, and I have metatarpalysis (sp? increased space between the 'knuckle' bones of the toes)

This and similar things can be solved with insoles. And not your ...*silly*... Dr. whatshispickle's ones either. Those are generic, whereas the ones health care centers provide are modeled specifically for your feet. They work wonders!

You better take it easy because if you do to much damage to your foot you will be out of commision or slowed down for a while. I tore Something in my foot 2 yrs ago and i still get pain and burning in my foot the same foot that i have a fallen arch on. The pain is in the middle too you should get it looked at. You do not want to make it worse.

Yep. Probably a neuroma, which is when a nerve gets pinched on its way up to your toes. First step in treatment is a special pad that goes on the ball of your foot. When that doesn't work, they'll give you a shot of cortisone that'll make you think twice before you go asking for it again, but it really helped me.

There are also surgical procedures that'll permanently numb the nerve, but conservative podiatrists don't usually like to do that unless nothing else works.

But don't trust a diagnosis off of Yahoo Answers. Go see the foot doctor. He'll x-ray it and stuff.

I would say it is due to the fact that you are a sociopath who spends way too much time on yahoo answers. Get up and walk around some... use em or lose em
