I intend to see my doctor tomorrow, but I need to know if I should be doing more tonight.

I lost my footing today and landed hard on my left knee cap. I came straight down, nothing twisted or bent the wrong direction. I suspect it's nothing more than a very deep bruise because I was able to hike the half mile back out of the canyon with little trouble. (The downhill bits hurt more than the uphill bits, if that means anything.) Since I got home, I cleaned the abrasion with peroxide, and have been applying ice at intervals. I took 400 mg of Ibuprophen about 6 hours ago, no other meds. And I've been staying off of it for the most part and keeping it elevated. It is currently slightly swollen, not much in the way of visible bruising, but it now hurts like hell to try to put my weight on it. (I'm using crutches.)
Should I wrap it? Is there anything else I should be doing?
I appreciate any help... again I'm seeing my doc for x-rays tomorrow.

You have done everything right and all the things I would have advised you to do. Yes, it will hurt more downhill than up. Wait until the morning to wrap the knee before you see the doctor. I fear that you may have lifelong probems with it now but I hope I'm wrong. Take another ibuprofen. I wish you the best of luck with this.
