The condition is exacerbated by wind and weather conditions. Last night I moisturized my hands well and slept in rubber gloves. It didn't hurt, but it didn't help much, either. Suggestions? Thanks! P.S. I have received such positive health advice from YA that I don't hesitate to ask now when a question arises. I don't substitute for med advice when necessary, but often someone in the know is all that's required. Again, Thanks!

Just got home from park with 18 month old grandson. Started a roast for dinner. Had popped it into open and then quickly bent down to pick up something I had dropped. Then immediately got sharp shooting pains behind left ear with immediate fairly loud clicking or ticking sounds. CALL ME CRAZY, but it concerned me. Have had clicking sounds before but certainly never anything like this with the sharp pains behind the left ear only. If anyone has experienced such on ordeal, I would be so thankful for your input. Pain is not bad now and took 2 aspirins right away as well. I don't like pills in general but hopefully they would help with pain and or thin the blood if that had anything to do with this sudden onset...Thanks in advance...Lill

You might find this a funny question but I would really like a sensible answer

I watch TV and I like a program call "" HOUSE""
Its about a doctor in a hospital who works with a team .
The patient is always in a room on his/her own which is OK I suppose , I have had a private room myself on the NH.
By the way , I am English so what i know about American medicine is gleaned mostly from TV tho I do know that in America you have to pay up front .
the thing is in this program there are always friends and relatives in the room with them , visiting , all the time and these people seem to have the right to question the doc on every point of the treatment their friend is getting and the doc seems to expect to have to explain it .
A patient is having a heart attack or a stroke or vomiting explosively and the doc and/or the nurses have to wade through concerned friends to get to the patient .
I know this would not be allowed in a British hospital so I was wondering ,is it really like

im 14, and cant seem to sleep. i dont drink coffee or eat sugary foods and dont listen to music or watch television right before bed. i try to read or settle down with a hot water bottle.
but i still cant sleep. it takes me about two hours to feel like im dropping off but when i fall asleep i am usually woken up several times by tiny sounds. i cant get up in the mornings and look pale and feel tired during the day.
i do loads of exercise, eat healthy, im not overweight, dont overstimulate my brain. could it be anxiety keeping me awake or is this insomnia?
some nights i dont think i sleep at all and seem to be awake to hear the alarm go off. and some days i fall asleep and then i have to wake up staright away
GOING MENTALLL SOOO EXHAUSTED BUT SO AWAKE

I have the BlueShield of California HMO through my employer, and I am wondering how do I go about seeing a dermatologist? Do I ask my physician to refer me to one or do I talk to the HMO directly? How much would it cost, on average?

the other day my friend and I were having lunch she began to
choke on a chicken bone.after quickly observing her got her to
keep coughing on her own. However that didn't work,I started to
use the Heimlich Maneuver on her with a few thrusts she started to
break wind as I compressed her stomach. Is this normal for when
the victim is choking? I don't recall reading about that one!

the right side of my neck has been very stiff and hard for the past couple years. it doesnt hurt, it is just extremely uncomfortable. i feel like i have to stretch it out every two miniutes. there are also two small bumps, one bigger than the other, right next to eachother in the middle of that same side. this side feels very muscular and hardned compared to the other side, and when i let my head hang with my chin on my chest, and relax all my muscles, my head turns slightly to the right by itsself wihtout any effort. what could this be? are the bumps normal if they are kind of hard, and move side to sdie when i press down on them, but dont move all around my neck?
