Soak your thumb in some very warm (not hot) water with lots and lots of salt that is mixed into the water very well. Soak it for about an hour or so. If you still can't see the top then you will need to use a needle, sorry. If you can see the top now, take tweezers and very carefully pull it out, be sure to rub the spot with neosporin.

Anyway, if you still don't see the top, you will need to take a steralized needle and kind of dig to get to the splinter, then get tweezers to extract it. Rub neosporin on it or antibiodic ointment.

I was also thinking if you soak your finger for a REALLY REALLY long time, your thumb will become very pruney and the skin arond your thumb will shrink, so you can extract the splinter.

Good luck!

Is the area where it entered your skin still open, if it has already healed over it is going to be alot more difficut to get out without pain. If it is still open you can try a few different things.
1. Put sticky tape on it and let it sit for a couple of hours then try to pull it off
2. Put vasaline on it and cover with a bandaid, this will soften the skin and help it to come to the surface faster.
3. Clean it with peroxide, the bubbles bring impurities to the surface.
4. Wait, it will eventaully come out on its own, or if it is tiny it might just stay there and heal, in which case it won't annoy you beyond how it looks.
5. If you can see the entrance hole then with your nail rub the splinter towards the hole using pressure.

Hope one of these work for you. Good luck

No. Hydrogen peroxide might keep that area from becoming infected, but it will not any sized splinter. Sorry, every splinter I've ever received always involved a certain element of pain upon the removal of that splinter.

All you need is baking soda and water make a really thick paste and put it on the area where the splinter is and let it dry do it a couple of times it should push right out but make sure you have tweezers baby nail clippers and a needle that is clean when you are done make sure to put antibiotic ointment on it or rubbing alcohol good luck!!!

Soaking it in salt water is just the beginning from there you need to get a needle and lift the tenderized skin and literally dig out the splinter. It shouldn't be too painful.

Black Salve will get it out. Just apply it overnight under a bandage and it should bring itself out. Black salve is a tar based substance sometimes it goes by just Salve. Not too sure about that salt water though? Salt and cuts (even small ones ) never turn out good! You should be at your local drugstore, but you might have to ask for it. Not a hot seller but it works!

soak your thumb in hydrogen peroxide daily to make the splinter fester up & out......Then use tweezers to remove it....

another way is to use a very strong magnet..pass it over the area lightly and it might come out if the splinter material is magnetic...

If there is even a little bit of the sticker sticking out you can take glue, just like you used in school, put over the area and let it dry completely and pull it off and if any part of the sticker is sticking out it should pull it right on out.

This is going to sound sick, and unless you don't mind needles, this works..

Get out a CLEAN needle and dig it out of your skin. It gets it out and it feels way better after you dig it out than it would if you kept the darn thing in your skin!

tape (regular tape you know) if you have a really sticky tape like a clear mailing tape, that may work even better. But just stick the tape on it and lift it a few times.
