I have a bit of a phobia about general anaesthetics, and some of the statistics are quite alarming.

CT scans show an inflamed appendix, which has led to a thickening of the colon wall due to inflammation in the right iliac fosse. They think it could either be a straight appendectomy, or an appendectomy with a hemicolectomy where the colon is inflamed. Another CT scan is required.

To be honest i am cr@pping myself at the thought of this surgery, not because of the pain, which I couldn't care less about, but the whole general anaesthetic thing is worrying me. Is this a routine op. should I be worrying? I would like some reassurance really.

Hi!

I take a relatively small (50mcg) dose of Levothyroxine every day to relieve my thyroid issue but have found that on the months I'm given them as loose tablets in a bottle I'm more tired than if I take the ones I get vacuum packed in a box.

Anyone else noticed this or is there any reason why?

My mum has been feeling unwell for sometime - she always feels "bunged up" in her ears, and gets a swirling sensation in eyes and cant' see properly. The doctors keep telling her it's her imagination but I've seen her in this state and it's awful. Now one doctor has said it could be Menieres Disease but looking it up on internet, it says its an ear problem and only effects one ear, not the eyes. Any suggestions?

I am always having problems with ingrown nais on my big toe... I usually keep my toe nails quite short (almost non-existent since i have tiny feet) but every 2-3 months or so, my big toe starts hurting and then i see that the nail has grown inwards! Then the whole things start, i cut-pull it out, it becomes infected for a couple of weeks, maybe 1-2 months then its ok.... really weird!

Friday night noticed slight rash under R arm. Thought it could be heat rash. Saturday it turned into brown slightly scaley rash traveling around to his back.He says it's painful. Tried antifungal cream, no change. Sunday night high fever 104.2,gave motrin fever down to 102.6. Still 102.6 Monday, called Dr. they said a temp. of 102.6 is not high. I got mad at the Dr. so they said he could be seen. Put him on antibiotics. Still has a fever of 102.4 tonight. She said the rash looked like exzema. They always say that when they don't know. I will make an appt. with a Dermatologist tomarrow. He has no other symptoms. Checked for strep, negative.

Can MS be picked up by a Cat Scan ? I had one but not with contrast. I have other symptoms going on like headaches just about everyday , some chronic but lots of tension/pressure headaches sensitive to light but not out doors light. Like computers or certain lighting. I get unsteady at times and things look fuzzy but i i close my right eye. Things are not no where as bad. Not sure what to think, I been to a eye Dr and had a cat scan on monday but have not gotten the results yet.

I found a steak in the fridge and not sure how long it was in there and cooked it since it was turning a little brown. The next day my father cooked it a little more though it was still pink in the middle.
She ate it and maybe 8 hours later, when she woke up she had a bit of a stomach ache.
Then her upper part of her stomach started to really hurt, as if she always has to burp. Then she has diareah and is very weak.
Also is feeling a little cold, plus she has a bad headache. She says when she drinks water it makes her stomach hurt.
What does she have? Will she be okay? What can I do to help.

I would really love to know what I am up against. I havent been to see the Surgeon yet, and I wont see him until the 17th of April, so this is driving me crazy. I have a 9mm mass in my Sphenoid Sinus on the Rt. side, and what is being called Patchy non-specific Ethmoid Sinus Mucosal Disease, and a severly infected Left Mastoid (Air Cell Disease), with a partial calcification of the left Mastoid. I am 44years old and at 38 had tubes put in my ears because of several repeated ear infections in my left ear. The tubes came out after 3 years, and the ENT I was seeing at the time wanted to putT-Tubes in my ears for a length of possibly 5 to 10 years, but I Iost my insurance before he could. Can I become deaf permanantly from the Mastoid problem? Is it too late to fix it? Please, if anyone has had this done or knows any info, I would be very grateful, this was unexpected news. I just went for a CT Scan because I have had some short term memory issues latley, the brain was fine!!
