I haven't been diagnosed but I have a chronic cough that is very like my sister -- and hers WAS diagnosed as GERD. I've cut out caffeine (except chocolate, that one's tough), and also dairy, citrus fruits and tomatoes.

Does anyone else have a cough as a result of GERD and how are you treating it? Just diet changes or are you on OTC or Rx meds? Thanks!

I just read on wikipedia that severe cases or vertigo can cause sudden death. Do you think this is true? The worst I ever get it is when I lie down to go to sleep and close my eyes. Everyonce in a while I get it then. Do you think I'm at risk if this is true? Sorry I kinda want to hear someone elses advice I'm a little nervous at the moment. Thanks.

I feel lightheaded and heavy when I stand up. If I'm sitting down or laying I'm just fine though. It sometimes feels as though I can't make it down a isle in a store or the hallways of my high school. Please help with any ideas of what this is and how to help it.

PS) I went to a doctor twice and they are stupid as ****.

I live with my Grandfather who is 81 years old. He has always been the smartest person that I have ever known (valedictorian in high school & Vice President of a bank for 40 years), but in the past year his short term memory is going. I just watched a great movie with him and at the end he tells me that he didn't understand a thing about it and when I asked what he didn't understand, it was clear to me that he forgot the whole first part of the movie... He has been taking a prescription drug the past 6 months but it only seems to make him tired and doesnt seem to help. I am more worried than ever & am desperately looking for help with this before it gets really bad, any answers will be appreciated.

Every so often, maybe three times a day for the past week, I notice my heart doing something strange, almost like it's skipping or slurring a beat. Before this week I hadn't noticed it. Is this a health issue, or am I just not getting enough sleep?

More so in the last three weeks, and for many years now I find my self in a daze, staring off into space, mind blank, and physically standing there like a statue, sometimes I would guess for up to a minute or longer, this especially happens when I go to the store, get out of my car and am ready to go into the store. Its increasing along with the memory loss, it happens to me other places too, its frustrating, embarrasing when I come to my senses and realize that it just happened again. Is this some kind of mini seizure? does any one else experience this. Whats going on? I have searched the web but cannot find what I am looking for, I also have had chronic insomnia for about eleven years now, If I take sleep medication of course its worse, it works on me in the day time like a mind eraser, so I dont take anything, not even over the counter, and I still am experiencing memory loss, and dazes, any one have this, please help me understand, and deal with it. Thanks so much.

I am 13 and lately I have been sleeping at least 11 hours a night. This isn't unusual for me, though. What is unusual is the fact that my breathing has become very shallow and slow, I'm either freezing or burning hot (the tempurature outside is over 100), I become extremely dizzy when standing up, I'm constantly tired, my hands are pale, and my body aches. The other night before I fell asleep I stopped breathing for a minute and a half. Also, a few days before I passed out for no longer than a minute.

I've come to the conclusion with my nana that I have anemia because the symptoms match, but is it possible it is something else? If so, what (please describe it) and what are the cures?

I will be visiting a doctor in a few weeks.

Thanks everyone. ^-^

Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the feeling of being very cold, even though it may be warm outside or in. When I feel the cold coming on I get extremely sleepy to the point it’s near impossible to keep my eyes open. My body evens starts to feel a little numb and weightless like I took a muscle relaxant, sedative, or a lot of cold/flu medicine.

Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this? It happens every so often. I am going to visit the doctor but thought I’d ask anyway. Thanks.

I know a guy who just got a job cooking for a fast food restaurant and he has Hep C. Is there a law that says he has to report this to his employer? Not sure if it could be a state law, but if so he lives in KY.

I was diagnosed with Sciatica (I am 28 years old) yesterday. I was wondering if Sciatica is a hereditary disease, passed down? Or is it something virtually anyone can get and never recover from, regardless of medical history?

the caffeine in coffee is diuretic as it can cause the volume of urine excreted. Otherwise it has no sideeffects as some myths say. does it affect ur night sleep?
