Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the feeling of being very cold, even though it may be warm outside or in. When I feel the cold coming on I get extremely sleepy to the point it’s near impossible to keep my eyes open. My body evens starts to feel a little numb and weightless like I took a muscle relaxant, sedative, or a lot of cold/flu medicine.

Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this? It happens every so often. I am going to visit the doctor but thought I’d ask anyway. Thanks.

This sounds like it could be low blood sugar.

Try eating something every couple of hours and be sure to include protein at least 3 times a day. That should level up your sugar.

It is called HYPOGLYCEMIA. I always get very cold, weak and have ice cold sweats when my sugar plummets.

Good Luck.

The low blood sugar mentioned by Samm is a good possibility, and one that easily fixed. Another possibility is an underactive thyroid gland. Both of these things are diagnosed by a blood test. It might be a good idea to call your doctors office and see if you can get a blood test scheduled a few days before the doctor appointment--that way, the doc will have all the info needed to diagnose the problem. These types of tests are often called wellness panels. The main things to check for are fasting blood sugar and thyroid hormones.
