Ok, well i have found a hard spot in my breast and I'm kinda scared of what it is. I don't know if it's a lump for a sign of cancer or whatever. But what's wierd is that it kinda hurts when I put pressure on it. Please tell me what to do or what it might be!!!

Hi lissa_babi, when you feels a lump in the breast, there is really no virtual worry because most lumps are benign which means that they are not cancerous. In fact, benign breast tumors are abnormal growths but do not really pose threats because they do not spread outside of the breast. However, some benign lumps increase the risk in having breast cancer.

Then there are lumps that are not really tumors at all which are often caused by fibrocystic changes -- cysts are fluid-filled sacs while fibrosis is the formation of scar-like tissue. These changes can cause swelling of the breasts resulting to being lumpy and sometimes a fluid discharge from the nipples.

Lissa immediately seek medical attention.

If you have a history of breast cancer in your family (mom, aunt, grandmother) then go to the doc NOW!! If not, it is probably just a cyst from drinking too much caffeine or eating a lot of fats. Also, before your period, hormones can cause cysts as well. Watch it- if it grows or does not go away in a couple weeks, see your doc!

Any new lump needs to be examined by your doctor to make sure its nothing serious. It is rare but young women do get breast cancer.

Don't get scared. This could be anything from a milk gland that's growing and not mature yet, to a fatty gland or fatty tissue. Most women have these problems in life. Go to your Doctor and he'll check it out, if he thinks you need a mammogram he'll set one up.

Go to the doctor right this instant. No ifs, no buts.

There would be millions who'd answer your question on YA but you'd only get assurance if you personally go to a specialist and have that lump checked! Please go!

I have had that before too and ran to my MD in a panic. It turned out to be something benign that didn't even need treatment--went away on its own. My MD said that, ironically, the cancerous ones are not painful. But PLEASE do not limit yourself to my advice; go to your own physician for examination. Good luck!
