More so in the last three weeks, and for many years now I find my self in a daze, staring off into space, mind blank, and physically standing there like a statue, sometimes I would guess for up to a minute or longer, this especially happens when I go to the store, get out of my car and am ready to go into the store. Its increasing along with the memory loss, it happens to me other places too, its frustrating, embarrasing when I come to my senses and realize that it just happened again. Is this some kind of mini seizure? does any one else experience this. Whats going on? I have searched the web but cannot find what I am looking for, I also have had chronic insomnia for about eleven years now, If I take sleep medication of course its worse, it works on me in the day time like a mind eraser, so I dont take anything, not even over the counter, and I still am experiencing memory loss, and dazes, any one have this, please help me understand, and deal with it. Thanks so much.

Short term memory loss is not part of the normal aging process. You need to make an appointment with a doctor to get to the bottom of it. Meanwhile, start taking some Omega 3 (fish oil capsules). It may not help with whatever the problem is, but it's good for you and certainly won't hurt.

Pat your insomnia can't be helping with this problem. You really do need to see a Doctor. Short term memory is something that does go first and not long as many think. All the best in getting sorted but it WILL take a doctors visit to help you out okay.

I am 34 and have memory loss at times also..I went to the Dr and he doesn't think for me it was anything unusual as in the neurology system, but more on the lines of stress and life ect. I have had this for years and it has gotten worse so hubby made me call.

Its better to be safe then sorry so like the others I would suggest to see your Dr to make sure its nothing major

see a neurologist to evaluate the cause
it could be petite mal seizures or early onset Alzheimer's or early dementia
there are medications than can manage and control these occurrences but if it is any of the above will not cure it
he will probably order a cat scan of the brain to rule out tumor or mini strokes called TIA's(transient ischemic attacks) that can cause mini blackouts
you endanger yourself and other's if you drive or cook, etc. and it occurs

These episodes you're having sound a great deal like the seizures I've had for years. If I were you, I'd ask my doctor for a referral to a neurologist and let the doctor do a complete work up if it's necessary. I'm especially concerned about you driving. Have you had these while you're driving?

Please see your MD. Now is a good time.
Though some memory loss is normal.
The sleeping pill issue is a biggie, make sure you talk with your MD. Possibly consider asking for a referal to a specialist.
I am a nurse not an MD and my advise is a doctor is in order ASAP.

I know a few people with severe memory loss. Get to your dr - sometimes its the start of dementia but there are wonderful medicines which will help you. A friend of mine who is in her 70's was diagnosed with dimentia, and the medicine has worked wonders. Perhaps theres nothing wrong, but I would check it out

Get checked out and stop driving immediately. Be careful when you do other stuff like cooking. You don't want to burn down the house or kill someone with your car. Good luck and God bless!!

it could be petit mal seizures. the sleeping med could be making it worse. it could also be early Alzheimer's. it needs to be checked out. there are meds for both the petit mal and Alzheimer's if you start early enough. there is no particular age for Alzheimer's to begin.
