I am 13 and lately I have been sleeping at least 11 hours a night. This isn't unusual for me, though. What is unusual is the fact that my breathing has become very shallow and slow, I'm either freezing or burning hot (the tempurature outside is over 100), I become extremely dizzy when standing up, I'm constantly tired, my hands are pale, and my body aches. The other night before I fell asleep I stopped breathing for a minute and a half. Also, a few days before I passed out for no longer than a minute.
I've come to the conclusion with my nana that I have anemia because the symptoms match, but is it possible it is something else? If so, what (please describe it) and what are the cures?
I will be visiting a doctor in a few weeks.
Thanks everyone. ^-^

With anemia, the body doesn't have enough red blood cells or they are not big enough to transport oxygen from your lungs to your body cells. Hemoglobin, made with iron, is the part of red blood cells that carries oxygen to other tissue. Without enough oxygen body cells cant produce enough energy. Then fatigue, pale skin, headache, weakness, lack of concentration, irritability among other symptoms may set in. To produce enough healthy red blood cells, you need enough iron in your diet as well as enough folate and vitamin B12.
You can get iron supplement over the counter in any pharmacy as well as other vitamins.
Make sure you have daily in your diet - meat, fish, poultry, eggs, milk, milk products, leafy veggies, fruit, legumes, liver.
Dark circles under eyes is usually a sign you are not drinking enough water.
Go see a doctor to be sure.

Before you come to any conclusions, perhaps you should see your doctor as he will do a bloodtest to confirm this. If that is the case, then he can prescribe iron supplements for a while. Make an appointment while you are still able to walk.
A 13 yr old should not feel like you do.

How do you know you stop breathing when you sleep? Most people don't figure this out without a sleep study.
See a doctor. The only person who'll be able to find out what's wrong and treat the problem is a doctor. Self-diagnosing is not helpful.

I'm not qualified to answer. If it is anemia, a simple blood test can tell them everything. Maybe your electrolytes are out of balance, maybe you have mononucleosis. There could be 100 possibilities. That's why we have doctors. They are trained scientists that will get to the bottom of it.
Good luck.

It sounds like your hormones are raging and you dont have the proper balance of vitamins and minerals to help...you also sound like your low on iron and not getting enough water...a good vitamin/mineral supplements...more water and eat some green olives or jeruselem articokes for iron...it will make you feel lots better...

Ask your doctor about sleep apnea. If you're not getting enough oxygen it can and will cause the symptoms you've described. Can you get in to see you doctor sooner?
