Do you have lavender oil? the smell is really relaxing it helps me sleep sometimes. Sorry but you sound really stressed over not sleeping so I dont think you will get to sleep before you have to work. Could you take a sick day?

Well to start off your anxiety may be the root of the problem but I am sure you know this. If your anxiety started at the same time that you changed to the patch you should talk to your doctor because depression is a noted side effect of Ortho Evra. Of course the best way to sleep better is to work on your anxiety but in the mean time you should work on your sleep hygiene. This means no light sources in your room(no clock, no TV, no LED's on cell phones/cd players etc), a set schedule, no eating for 2-3 hours before bed and most importantly don't use your room or bed for anything except sex and sleeping. If you can't sleep in 15 mins or so get up and read or do another non stimulating activity until you feel tired and then head back to bed and try again. Also you might try to exercise in the morning or after noon -not too late. I hope this helps...

Find a relaxation routine.
• Start it at the same time every day.
• No TV. But you may have calm music (No Rap or Heavy Medal)
• Take a hot bath with the lavender or other calming oils (candles are nice too)
• When in bed do relaxation exercised
- Lie flat on your back
- Visually relax your muscles by walking thru it with your mind. Start with your toes, then your ankle, then your calf, thigh, hip… all the way to your head. As you relax the muscle feel it get heavy. At first you may have to go thru your body system a couple times – eventually you will fall asleep before completing the exercise.
• There are relaxation cd’s to help you fall asleep. Not the “sounds of nature” type but more like sleep/relation hypnosis

Good luck and good nite
