Friday night noticed slight rash under R arm. Thought it could be heat rash. Saturday it turned into brown slightly scaley rash traveling around to his back.He says it's painful. Tried antifungal cream, no change. Sunday night high fever 104.2,gave motrin fever down to 102.6. Still 102.6 Monday, called Dr. they said a temp. of 102.6 is not high. I got mad at the Dr. so they said he could be seen. Put him on antibiotics. Still has a fever of 102.4 tonight. She said the rash looked like exzema. They always say that when they don't know. I will make an appt. with a Dermatologist tomarrow. He has no other symptoms. Checked for strep, negative.

My question is if anyone might know what he might have or been exposed to......ki*** You must not have children. So that explains your rude "answer"

One other thing that pops into my head is shingles. The high fever, the "rash" spreading around to his back, and the fact that this rash is painful. I know he's young, but I would definately get him checked out. My son has eczema....it is not painful! He gets it in the armpits, behind his knees and elbows and it dry, brown, thick patches, but not at all painful (unless it were to get scratched off). Best of luck to you....please drop back in to let us know what happens.

If he has pain under his arm pit, my question is does he have a swelling? Do you have cats? Sometimes a little cat scratch any where on the body will develop into an infection. It tends to localize itself under the arm pits where the lymph nodes are at. If there is a swelling then it will have to be surgically drained and have a culture done on the drainage to see what type of infection he has and what medication will respond to this type of infection. Normally a rash will not develop but it's worth checking any possibilities.

There is also a chance it may be scarlet fever. This tends to produce a rash and fever. Ask your doctor. This is very common in children

Goodluck

Take him to another doctor. If he/she can't see him right away, take him to ER. And don't let them give him another antibiotic until they know what they're treating (for sure - it must have a name and bloodwork to back it up!). Too often docs prescribe antibods for 'general' infections and when they haven't a clue what it is or want to clean you up and get you out fast. If the first one didn't work, chances are she hasn't a clue a second will either. The traveling rash and fever sounds serious, could be a poison insect bite or severe allergic reaction to an insect bite or some allergen you haven't thought of.

I don't want to scare you either but if I were you I would take him to the emergency room.
It's the fever that is the problem kids get fever easily but a four day fever is not so simple.
If you go for nothing so the worst thing that will happen is they 'll tell you you came for nothing but at least you tried.
Maybe it is eczema but it could be infected which is what is causing the fever and then he would need to be on IV antibiotics.
Either that or go for a second opinion asap, not tomorrow.
Good Luck

Definetly change doctors the fact he said a fever of 102 .6 is not high , and its accompanied by a rash on top of that , Id have my kid in the emergency room and wouldnt leave till the problem is solved , especially given pains involved. TOO MANY doctors throw antibiotics around like candy ,,, ANTIBIOTICS BREAK DOWN THE IMMUNE SYSTEM!

Under the arms are lymph nodes that absorb infection--so is it a bug bite, spider bite??? The blood test will tell and the fever is just fighting infection as nature intended. cat bites, certain plants, detergent, blood poisoning from a cut that got dirty---hey you got to find a doctor that knows these things--did he drink any poison??102 fever is high and dangerous--rashes do not cause fever---poison and germs cause fever and he may have gotten something from the garage or under the sink--and won't say because he is scared--that too will burn the skin---get to a poison control center...they can do their tests. Good luck

Although I'm not a physician, this sounds just like "cat scratch fever." Has he been exposed to a cat or been scratch by one recently? If so, tell your doctor to check for this. U can also research on internet so u can discuss with the dr.

Can you try another doctor?

"Pain under his arm pit" and rash almost sounds like a boil. But I don't know if that causes fever, too.

Not trying to scare you but that temp. is way too high, ignore that silly doctor, he was probably more interested in his golf score than your son, get him to a ER now, and don't move until your son is getting the proper treament.

When temperatures get to 102 - 104 it is dangerous. I would be quite concerned about this doctor.
