Ive had this damn disease for 8 years but I still have moments when I get these out of control bouts of rage at feeling like I have so much of what wouldve been a much easier, normal life just robbed from me because of my worthless pancreas. It just had to make me suffer like this. Ive been put on disability at my job because my blood sugars go too low a lot of the time no matter how many times a day I check them and eat. They say well maybe this job isnt for you because it doesnt fit in with your diabetes lifestyle! God nothing goes right and I tried soo hard to control my blood sugars!? Not being able to ever "just eat something" without having to immediately worry ohhh.... whats my blood sugar going to do now? Its like im carrying around this huge weight on my chest and no matter what I do it wont leave me the hell alone, God do I feel pissed!!!

I have recently been told that I have Type 2 diabetes. I am looking for a list of foods I can have and a list of foods that I need to avoid. I'd like it in a list form so it can be hung on my bulletin board for quick reference.

I was recently diagnosed with diabetes (controlled through exercise and diet, no meds at this time). I've gone to a ton of websites and read literature on diabetes, but cannot find a straight answer about testing my blood sugar.

For diabetics out there....
When should I test?
Should I test after fasting (say after sleeping) or before a meal?
How soon after a meal should I test?
How many times a day?

Thanks for your help! :-)

At 1 am I awoke due to neuropathy pain in my feet which was extreme, and USUALLY indicates to me that my blood sugar is elevated, which it could have been since I had been to a holiday party last evening. Yet when I tested, my reading was 102. To make sure, I tested again and got 105. This am, at 630am, I did another test (no food) and it was 130. I took my usual insulin dose and came into work. My feet started tingling again, so I tested again.(750 am)..still with no food, because I usually eat around 830am...and it was 156!! Why would this be happening?

I have been trying to get my diabetic wife to stop drinking regular soda and stop eating candy (M+Ms, Snickers, etc.) for a long time now. She is very overweight and I do not know how to explain to her that it is VERY bad for her. Any HELP would be appreciated! Links to websites about the ill effects would be GREAT. We have a 8 year old daughter and I want my wife to be around when she gets older. Thanks!!!
