Thanks for your answers. I am also 14 years old and am afraid I may be diagnosed with Type 2.

It is nearly possible to be a NORMAL HUMAN BEING with type 2 diabetes. There is always the possibility of an insulin reaction but it may be watched closely enough to be quite a good firfighter anyway. You will not be able to get a CDL as a diabetic using insulin but anything else is almost unbounded with the proper care. Have a great holiday!!

Yes you can live a normal life, try to control your Blood Sugar, eat healthy and exercise.
Don't try to miss meals or medication once you have commenced your training as a fire fighter.

Let your Supervisor and a few person on the job who you feel comfortable with know that you are Diabetic, just in case of an emergency.
Have regular check ups.
Good luck.

Absolutely. Be and do whatever you want. Just try to eat three meals a day with two snacks. If this is not possible, then take a diabetic bar with you at all times to make sure there is something in your stomach at meal times.....Check sugars often in the beginning and then do it as necessary as determined by the numbers you get...You want your sugar to be 90-100. Educate yourself as much as possible, and watch your diet...Exercise is very important because it can bring down your blood sugar rapidly. Hope this helps you...........................

Yep. You can avoid taking medications by maintaining an excellent diet along with a good exercise regimen.
As long as you watch your sugar intake, take care of your lifestyle, and stay positive, then you can live as if Type 2 diabetes doesn't even exist.

God Bless and thanks for reading.

I have a very good type 1, insulin pump wearing diabetic friend who, get this, runs marathons and finishes them. I told him I can't even run around the neighborhood and you're running marathons!! You are giving all of us diabetics a bad name. lol.
Point is, you can do anything you put your mind to, even with diabetes.

Don't give up and have faith. My poor father has diabetes and i am soooooooo scared of losing him because he used to have very bad eating habits. Luckily my step mom prepares all his meals. I beg him to rest and retire, but my dad is a workaholic like me. Yes you can live a normal life just put your health first always.
