There's no way to say with certainty if she'll develop diabetes or not, but being overweight is certainly a huge risk factor. The best thing you and your family can do for your sister is help her to develop healthy eating and exercise habits. This is also something to ask her doctor about at her next appointment and get some advice.

It's not certain that she'll get type 2 diabetes, but there's a darn good chance. That's an absolutely disgusting weight for a child that age, unless she's some kind of a giant. It's not her fault though, it's your parents. They're setting her up for alot of disappointment in her life by stuffing her face full of junk food and letting her sit around on the couch all day. Type 2 diabetes is only one of the health problems that the obese have to deal with. Not to mention that, to society, she'll always be the fat girl. I'm sure you care about your sister since your asking this question, so the best thing for you to do is exercise with her and encourage her to eat more healthy foods. Lead by example and whatever you do, don't make fun of her for it. She's only 10, it's really not her fault.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

If she is tall for her age I wouldn't worry. I was a fat kid so was my sister and alot of family members but when we got older we lost the weight and never had diabetes. I also have a chunky daughter,19, who is fine. She's just a kid and some kids gain weight before they have a growth spurt also. I have raised 6 kids and watched the weight go up and down with no problems. Give her a few years, in the mean time try getting her to exercise a little, maybe a walk with big sis would help everyday. You may find out something is bothering her and she is eating as a way to avoid it.

One can not be entirely certain whether or whether not she'll develop type 2 diabetes. Being overweight is increasing the risk, although weight is not the sole factor, for instance someone who is not overweight but eats a large amount of sweets could also develop it. However being overweight is never a good thing and can cause all sorts of other even worse complications in later life.

Possibly, since excess weight does seem to contribute to the disease. How tall is she? If she's tall enough 150 may be quite reasonable, and not far from her ideal weight, and young kids do have growth spurts. There is also a genetic component to type 2- so if you have family members with the disease, that increases her changes even more than the weight issue.

She will get a lot of things if she doesn't lose some of that weight,
like about 60-70 lbs.
She could get a lot more than just diabetese, like heart desease
because of the extra strain on her heart carrying all that weight,
which also leads to circulation problems.
Her kidneys will have to work harder too, which can be a strain on them and cause numerous problems.
And her liver, which filters 'everything', will definately be over-
worked, and this can also be dangerous.
Tell your sister, if she loves herself and her family then she'll get the pounds off NOW!!!

it is possible. But I know larger people that don't. It is more the lifestyle of eating bad and not exercising.
I just saw what someone else wrote and would like to comment. Type 1 is NOT brought on by any poor lifestyle choices. I am a type 1 and I can tell you as a type 1 I can speek for other we hate to hear stuff like that.

There is a good chance but probably when she is older. People with obesity usually end up getting things like heart failure, hypertension, swelling in the arms and legs and also diabetes. It can become a serious situation.
