How does a diabetic generally feel after eating a lot of sugar? How does he feel when he doesn't eat anything?

I am diabetic. Recently diagnosed. Not insulin dependant. Elevated blood sugar, usually less than 200.

I had two round callouses on my feet. One on each. I noticed what looked like a piece of dirt in one of them and I tried to scratch it off. It wouldnt leave and I think it may have been a bloodspot. A little blood came out and now it hurts. I have sensation in the foot all around the callous area. The only numbness I have is in the big toe and this is not near it.

I plan to go to a Podoiatrist but I cant until after the 1st of the year. Am I gonna get gang green. My great grandfather lost a foot to that as a complication of diabetes. My mom is insulin dept diabetic. I am freaked out. Since it hurts does that mean I will be OK? Pain is good right?

I know I am a moron for picking at the callous. I will never do that again

Ok my father has type 1 diabetes and psoriasis very badly on his back, head, and underarms. He was taking some kind of diabetic Medication called Avandia 8mg., we believe thats what it was called. He has switched doctors and the one he has now wont prescribe him that medication because it is not yet proven to help with psoriasis. But I have took it before and it made my psoriasis go away pretty much completly. Do you know of any kind of medication that is proven to work for severe psoriasis. I would prefer a site that has Avandia for a decent price. Also has anyone else tried this medication or know anyone that has, if so what was the results/side affects. Serious answers only please!
Also if possible do you know of a site that takes medicaid insurance located in Bristol Virginia for Avandia or any other medication that is proven to cure psoriasis.

Are you in your 40s and suffering from any long term effects of insulin dependant diabetes? If so, can you describe them and the effect they are having on your life?

I have noticed that there seems to be a continuing problem with under-filling of Lantus brand insulin bottles. About 25 percent of the bottles I use contain less than 1,000 units. This is over a l-o-n-g period of time. It's not just one bad lot. Some bottles are slightly over-filled, but I get a LOT of Lantus bottles that contain 930-980 units instead of 1,000.

Has anyone else noticed this? I have complained to the pharmacists. They claim it's "impossible" for a drug company tio under-fill bottles. I am very accurate in my handling of dosages, and i know I am right.

I DON'T, but I was just wondering why they say you can't. I have no diseases other than diabetes (been tested) and they say you should never re-use a needle. I never have, but I was wondeirng the reasoning behind this.

My brother's girlfriend has type 1 diabetes and she mentioned some Canadian study that may prove to provide a cure for diabetes. She didn't give me a whole lot of details, but she said that by removing the pain (?) neurons around the nonfunctional Insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, some scientists had been able to restore the function of the cells. She mentioned that in a year or so they'd be done with their human tests, and she's excited about the implications of such a study.

I feel pretty uninformed, and I'm suprised I haven't heard more about such a study. I ran a quick internet search and couldn't find anything that matched what she had told me.

Does anyone have any information? I'd like to learn more.
