Not exercise alone! He needs to control his diet and exercise. Tell him to look at the GI Diet by Rick Gallop, its recommended for syndrome X and diabetics. It will also get some weight off him. With a BP of 140/100 he will probably be given tablets to treat that, its quite high!
Cinnamon is great for helping to regulate blood glucose and cholesterol levels, on breakfast cereals or in tea, coffee. He should take 1/2 teaspoon twice a day;

One sparrow doesn't make a summer. So one test doesn't tell any thing. When you over eat or eating sugary foods can also show high blood sugar levels. If you have other symptoms like too much craving for drinking water, too much urination, getting tired easily etc are symptoms for diabetes. Since you now want to know why this high blood sugar level even during fasting, consult an endocrinologist. He will let you know what tests you have to take.For a normal person the blood sugar levels hover around 70 to 100. If the blood sugar level is above 140 during fasting he can be considered on the verge of diabetes.At your age if if you become diabetic it is type 2. There is no cure for diabetes.If untreated it leads to organ malfunctions and even death. But if treated in time it can be contained. Balanced and nutritious food, exercises and medicines are the remedies for it.

Besides, your regular medication, I suggest that you do yoga regularly. Yoga helps in the management of proven diabetic cases.
Some Indian research showed that doing 30 to 40 minutes of yoga a day reduced blood sugar by 50 to 75 points throughout the day.
And a Japanese study showed that six months of "laughter therapy" improved kidney function in people with diabetes. While this doesn't take the place of medicine, it's certainly fun to tell jokes, watch funny movies and read the comics.
Sleep also is important. Pulling all-nighters can cause higher than average blood sugar levels even in healthy adults. And frequently sleeping less than five or six hours nightly has been linked to a greater risk of diabetes, according to research in America, Germany, Finland and Sweden.

I am sorry the answer is NO !! A 30 year old having a fasting Blood Sugar of 170mg% and blood pressure 140/100 MUST be put on medication - oral anti-diabetic drugs , or even Insulin - depending upon the response as well as anti hypertensive therapy. Exercise, correct diet , vitamins. weight control etc etc are only supplimental therapy - only exercise can never cure !!

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

170 is high for blood sugar. Has he been diagnosed with diabetes? His blood pressure is also too high, especially the lower number.
He probably will need medication to control his blood pressure. Its also possible he may need medication to control his diabetes.
Diet and excercise can help, but they are not a cure all. Your son needs to be under a doctor's care, and only professional medical advice will suffice here. Good luck.

Exercise might help with some with the blood pressure. But to improve chloresterol, he would need a change in diet. Sugar levels are a bit more tricky and may need to have a doctor check that out and recommend what to do. You need to figure out if the sugar level is due to diet or to diabetes settling in.

Diabetes cannot be cured and needs to be kept under control with diet and excercise and meds or insulin as needed. Hypertension needs medication to get it under control and then work with diet and exercise to help get it under better control. The cholesterol also should be watched and diet changes made as well as exercise. All of these things are serious and need medical attention to get them under control. The one that cannot be reversed though is the diabetes and that should be taken care of medically until it is at least well controlled before even attempting to stop any meds the doc prescribed.

Diet, lifestyle, and exercise. But with levels that high, he needs to be monitored by a doctor or physical therapist to make sure he's doign what his body can handle.
I'd also get him in touch with a nutrionalist.
