I've been eating a piece of fruit, but often my blood sugar is high and I want to eat something that doesn't make it higher. I am not taking insulin but take metformin in the morning. I'm thinking a vegetable might be the best, but will it absorb? Because I'm assuming that's the point of eating - to cushion the blow of the drugs. Thanks for your help.

sugar is high and I don't want to make it higher. What is a low calorie, easy food I can eat three or four bites of that will not raise my blood sugar? And will some foods actually lower my blood sugar?

Because this diabetic i know eats sweets and drinks beer, but claims that he doesnt exactly know what a diabetic can eat, so he eats the stuff he knows he shouldn't eat.

My husband has bouts of symptoms where he feels really sore and worn out. We think he may have diabetes but we haven't gone to the doctor yet because first we wanted to wait until after Christmas is over with and I wanted to ask you all your opinion.
We think it could be because he eats ALOT of sugar. My husband loves sugar, ice cream and candy and will eat a ton of it. Then approx 1-2 times a month he gets "Sick" where he feels worn out and says his muscles feel sore. He isn't working out or doing anything to make him sore or worn out. Could this be a sign of him having diabetes? Should we see a doctor and start with a regular physical or what? Thank you for your answers!!!

My doctor recently diagnosed me as diabetic based on my fasting blood sugar (142) and a A1c of 6 (mean avg glucose=114). However, I was not told to fast before the "fasting" test (nor did they ask me if I had been fasting)! I had a lot of sugary food a few hours before the test and, more importantly, some sugary breakfast drinks about an hour before. I told my doctor this, but he says the A1C test confirms the diagnosis, which I thought required 2 fasting blood sugar tests.

He's a new doctor for me, and I'm not crazy about him for various reasons. Should I get a second opinion/new doctor, and, if so, what should I tell the new doctor? Should I tell him about the previous doctor? I don't want my insurance rates to skyrocket if I don't really have this disorder.

Much thanks.

My blood sugar got to 200 during a glucose tolerance test, my Dr. tells me I am borderline diabetic, stated I need to excercise more, loose some weight, I am about 40 lbs. overweight, and started me on a low dose of glucophage twice a day, he told me it would help me lose some weight, in researching this, I cannot find anywhere in the side effects that glucophage will assist with weight loss, has anyone had experience with this please. Thanks ever so much.

If a person goes to emergency room with systolic bp of 260, would they automatically be admitted to hospital for observation, or might they be sent home if pressure went down?

I got the test result for my blood and I got shocked to know that glucose level in my blood is 257(fasting test) and haemoglobin is just 9.3 though i dont have either of parent diabetic nor i can see any symptoms of weakness(due to low haemoglobin). daily i use to walk around 4 KM. and just before 4 month i had tested, everything was normal at that time. All of a suddent is it possible??(though i m going to cross varify tomorrow with another test)

I've noticed for 2 or 3 days my blood sugars are 230 to 236. But have been much higher. I average around 145, I haven't eaten or done anything unusual. Only thing I can think of is not sleeping and looking at a big move into our brand new handicapped house, I'm also using wheelchair for bad lymphadema however you spell it. Hope later numbers come down, for I am in between docs, appointment in Jan. other doc won't see me anymore I guess she is scared of my conditions anyways just a Nurse Practicinar {?}

A docter suggested it might reduce the pain/inflamation that is being caused by 'frozen shoulder'. Also that it might help prevent loss of sight or at least maintain it - talking now about a person who's eyes has already been damaged by diabeties, he has about 30% eyesight left and has had laser treatment before.
