it's actually creatinine (creatine is not the same thing)
the main purpose behind this test is to evaluate kidney function. your kidneys are responsible for filtering out creatinine (a waste product from the breakdown of muscles) and if your glomerulus (part of the kidney) is not functioning correctly you will have a high blood creatinine level.
dehydration can also cause a high blood creatinine level, because of the concentration of your blood (not as diluted out with fluids) and because you are not urinating as much
