I'm not sure exactly if you are asking if you lose weight with hypothyroidism or how do you lose weight with hypothyroidism.
I have hypothyroidism and I gained weight. Weight gain is a symptom of the condition. Also, when you are hypothyroid, it is extremely difficult to lose weight. A rare few will lose with thyroid medication, but it's not the norm. You have to exercise and make diet changes to get any weight loss. Weight loss is slow, but it can happen over time if one does not give up. The first thing a person can do is to learn as much as they can about being hypothyroid. This is the only way to get the best care and on the best medication for you. There are some who do great on T4 (like Synthoid or Levoxyl) and there are others who need both T4 and T3 (like Armour or Thyrolar) If you are hypo, read up on it. There are some great message boards on yahoo and on about.com

If you are asking HOW to lose weight if hypothyroid, your weight will normalize when you are on the right dose of Synthroid (thyroid replacement hormone).
Your doctor will run blood tests to determine if your dose is right or not.
Make sure the weight gain is actually because of your thyroid levels and not due to excess food or a change in exercise, etc.
If you are asking if this a symptom, no, usually weight loss is caused by HYPERthyroidism, or an abnormally high level of thyroid hormone.
If you are already being treated for hypothyroidism, this can happen if your medication dose is too high.
However, there are some exceptions to the rules. Some people display symptoms of hypothyroidism when hyperthyroid, and vice versa. This isn't common, but it can happen.
See your doctor for blood work.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

hey freind as for the hypothyroidism
there is slow metabolism and the daily need for energy it is decreased let us say it will drop from 3000 k cal to about 1500 K cal so if u keep on eating the same type of food that u used to eat which is within the 3000 Kcal then for sure u will gain weight coz there is an extra 1500 calories to ur daily need when u have hypothyroidism . .although ur daily intake is the same and u did not increase it ... so here u have to treat the coz of hypthyroidism ... either by iodine intake or by replacement therapy of thyroid hormone ... that depends on the cause of the hypothyroidisom , so it is not the matter of controlling ur diet the matter is to treat the cause of weight gain which is the hypothyroidism so as if u treat it and u restore ur normal thyroxine level within ur blood then u will get inshape again and ur metabolism will be increased and u will start losing weight although the fact that ur diet is the same
so good luck

Generally, hypothyroidism is related to weight gain, unless you're taking too much thyroid hormone (which is an effective, but stupid way to loose weight, lots of side effects), but people are funny, their diseases don't always read the medical texts ^_^.

Hypothyroidism is a condition that will actually make you gain weight. You might also have a general lack of energy and lethargy and feel cold.

Typically not, but it depends. My dad has hypothyroidism, and he loses weight, but the majority of the time people with hypothyroidism *gain* weight.
