I'm having a molar (tooth #2) pulled early next month. Could someone please tell me what it feels like; how bad is the pain (1 - 10); etc. I had all four of my wisdom teeth out (cut out), but that was 15 years ago, and it wasn't quite the same--I had general anesthesia and had them cut out. Is having one pulled any less painful?

Do you realize when you are taking a breath? (inhailing and exhailing)

Had a mouth abscess since Wednesday, my cheek has really swollen up and feels like I have a golf ball wedged under, I can’t open my mouth more than 1cm. I tried to get a dentist appointment but they can’t see me for 5 days (typical) so I went to the Doctors surgery who gave me ‘Amoxicillin’ have been on this now for 30 hrs but still there is no improvement, in fact I feel worse now than I did before. How long does it take for the antibiotics to kick in as I meant to be going to a friend’s 30th birthday tomorrow and don’t wanna turn up looking like the elephant man.

Also would it be safe if I needled the blister and then spat all the fluid out.

I've had two dentists tell me that my gums have receded somewhat, but both did not make it sound that urgent or anything. They told me overall everything looked good and didn't tell me I was in trouble or that I needed to do anything other than continue to floss and brush. I'm worried that I will encounter problem. Any advice/comments?

I dislocated my right jaw when I yawning too wide. I went to two oral surgeons and they said I need a surgery to cut off my right jaws. Is there anyway my right jaw will heal or fix without going to surgery because I realize that surgery is irreversible? Anyone has experience this? Any advices or help would be graceful. Thanks.

I have a question for everyone. I recently fell in my bath tub and hit the side of my ceramic toilet with my jaw full force. Sounds lame, but seriously, the toilet is pratically in the shower becuase my bathroom is so small.
It happend on Wednesday night and I am in sooo much pain. When I am not moving my jaw it is ok, but when I talk, chew or just put my teeth together it is agony. My bite is a little off and my jaw does not feel the same as the other side. It also has a lump that I can move around in there.

What do you guys think.. I hate going to the hospital and want to know if this is a ligitamate reason to go.

THANKYOU

My dentist says I have a very small oral-nasal fissure that has to be fixed. Does anyone know how its done (without scaring the wits out of me!)?

I don't like my mouth being fiddled with after a nasty extraction last year, does it HAVE to be mended?

On one of my side teeth (about three over from front right tooth) I have what feels like a small hole or gap, where tooth meets gum on the outside touching the inner lip. It doesn't bother me, but if I push on the "gap" area with my nail I have that zinging sensation, like nerve or whatever. Is it possible for this to be a cavity? I take great care of my teeth and don't know what it could be.

it's actually only one tooth and i really don't have the money for braces, unless they can fix just one tooth for around $100. i hate smiling because my teeth look so disgusting thanks to that one front tooth deciding to take its own path, so any info on how i can get this fixed cheap and affectively would really help.

im 14 and and im scared cause the doctor said that the teeth are impacted and are growing in the wrong direction and so on. The doctor's gonna cut my gums and pull my 4 wisdom teeth on the same day but im doing a general anaestesia so i guess it wont hurt while getting my teeth out. what will happen after the surgery?? will it hurt after? what will happen to my cheeks will they swell? i remember the same thing happened to my classmate, her face looked like she got bashed up by som1! what should i do to prevent it from swelling? what do i do to stop my teeth from paining?

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed today. The dentist only put a suture in one of them which was particularly difficult to remove.
Is this normal? I don't like the idea of having a gaping hole in my jaw.

Also, will I be able to see / feel the blood clot? Or it is deeper within the socket? I'm quite concerned about having a dry socket.

So I recently got my braces and I heard you can get white spots after removal. Because I brush after every meal well except for school. When I floss I just floss my gums are you suppose to floss the braces? So anyone know how to prevent them?

While I'm sleeping, I apparently do this thing with my teeth where my mouth is closed, but my teeth are clattering, almost as if I am constantly biting down on something. It's not necessarily grinding, it's just my teeth hitting each other over and over. I don't wake myself up when I do it, and didn't know until my boyfriend told me I do it in my sleep. He says I do it all night sometimes... Also some days I will wake up and my teeth will feel sort of odd. Like I had been clenching them together for a long time. Not quite loose... but the front teeth will be touching each other in a way that feels unusual, not the same as it used to be. It's very strange... No pain involved or anything, but it still bothers me and I'm sure it's not the best for my teeth.

Anyone have any advice as to where I go from here, what to do about it, or possible similar personal stories? Any help would be much appreciated.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted in October (oral surgery). Since then, I've been extra sensitive to spicyness. Just tonight we had some goulash, and I watched my mom make it, and she didn't put any spices in it. But it tasted a bit spicy to me, and my tongue was tingling. There's been quite a few other encounters when I thought the food was spicy even though it really wasn't. It's usually foods that has tomatoes/tomato sauce, if that helps any. Just wondering what's going on.

When I got dentures, recently, I chose porcelian and asked if I could get them pearly white (like all the posters hanging up in the dental office). I mean if you have to have dentures why not really pretty white ones. When I got mine though they look just like a nondescript color, not white and not yellow. I had a big beautiful smile and bc of several conditions going on with these teeth I'm having a difficult time with adjusting to them. I think dentures for me was the best choice but these aren't pretty in the slightest. They don't look like my original teeth at all and aren't even as white as mine were. I'm so discouraged. It's been like a nightmare. I own my own business and have to converse with my clients and it is so obvious I have dentures that are big, loose and not attractive in the slightest. Is this the way it is with all dentures? I'm considering implants but would rather give the entire situation a break for a while. I feel so defeated with this matter.

I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow.... should i be nervous?

is it going to hurt seriously bad?

if you had to compare it to another pain, which pain would it be?

I have had over 10 reconstructive and orthopedic surgeries in the past 3 years and i haven't been this nervous! I guess because this one is on my face and in my mouth! idk

Hi,

I have silver amalgam/mercury fillings and want to get them replaced with gold, because I heard resin composite fillings can degrade into toxic chemicals. Does anyone know how much gold fillings cost? I have 2 fillings that I want to get replaced.

Thanks,

i have a malformed tooth that the dentist thinks should come out. i am young, but the tooth itself is "double" cusped--additionally, i have periontitis in that gum, BECAUSE the shape of the tooth prevents me from keeping it clean. anyway, point is, should i go ahead and have them pull it and do the implant? this is what they are suggesting, as there is no other way to prevent the gum from repeatedly becoming infected (i can't even floss between the teeth correctly because of the malformed shape). i am afraid it is too serious of a procedure at my age. anyone had implants? am i being taken for a ride by the dentist or should i do this? my tooth is very painful.
