I'm having a molar (tooth #2) pulled early next month. Could someone please tell me what it feels like; how bad is the pain (1 - 10); etc. I had all four of my wisdom teeth out (cut out), but that was 15 years ago, and it wasn't quite the same--I had general anesthesia and had them cut out. Is having one pulled any less painful?

I'm sorry--I think I need to be more specific. :) I know the procedure itself won't hurt--I meant after the lidocaine wears off, what will it feel like? Needles stabbing into my gums? Punched in the jaw? Aching/throbbing? Also, how long does the pain last?

I had 12 teeth removed 8 for braces and 4 wisdom teeth. I have also worked in the dental field for 18 years. The anesthetic is a small ant bite type of a poke. It will go completely numb. At removal time you will feel A Lot of pressure ,you will hear noises but all is OK ,there should be no pain. After you will be sore. Your dentist will recommend Motrin or give you a prescribed medication to help. They will give you instructions after like do not rinse out or sip threw a straw. Keep pressure on the area till the bleeding stops. Eat soft foods. No soda. follow these and you will be fine. I hoped this helped. Take care sweetie. I wish you the best.

I had 4 wisdom teeth cut out while fully awake just with local anasthesia. I didn't think it was bad at all! So as for one molar...I can't imagine that it would be that bad....if it hurts, they usually tell u to raise your hand so you can have more novacaine....

the numbing agents used in modern dentistry are very effective...you likely won't feel a thing once you've gotten the necessary injections.
