my jaw has been clicking for about 3 years now. I went to the dentist and it turns out it's because my jaw isn't aligned correctly so I got a $500 splint. I started wearing it and it made no difference because it was made incorrectly. so for about a year i ignored the pain and now its come back. I sometimes grind my teeth at night and I don't know if this is why i now have pain in both my teeth and my jaw. I was thinking of getting a mouthguard from the pharmacy, could this help.

I have some serious tonsil stones and I can' remove them myself. I know that a doctor can but what kind of dr? Do I need to see a general practioner or a dentist? I tried asking my dad but he hasn't had tonsils since he was six so we're both in the dark on this subject.

I had a root canal. My dentist didn't even tell me anything about having a crown until after she finished the root canal-then she told me I need to schedule the crown prep. Needless to say, I was quite surprised because I thought I was all finished. Now I have to pay for a crown. My insurance will pay for 50%. I have to pay my part in 2 payments. I was told my part will be about $300. I 'm not to happy about having to take $150 with me for my next two visits.

I have had my new upper dentures for 11 days now and up until a couple days ago it's been a breeze. Now they're getting sore. I was told that after the swelling went down they would be a little tender until my gums toughen. Anyone know how long that will take?

Throughout the day I notice that I am clenching my teeth together. I don't really realize that I am doing it for a few minutes and then my jaw starts to hurt. Does anybody have an input on why I'm doing this? Does this happen to anyone else?

I know this is a pretty common thing to happen at night but it only happens to me during the day...

My dad said that his tooth has been in pain for the last 2 days but it is getting unbearable. There is black on his gums around the tooth. He keeps calling emergancy dentists, but ironically non of them are picking up. What could it be?

I got my wisdom tooth taken out yesterday (friday) and i'm about what my limits are on eating.. I really dislike soup I never eat that but all day yesterday thats what I ate and it ended up making me sick this morning. I want food with substance but it seems like everything I wanna eat my parents are telling me its not a good idea. People that have gotten their wisdom teeth (tooth) removed what did you eat and another thing is, cigarettes. I know it's bad to smoke cigarettes because of dry socket but i'm a regular smoker and Ive cut back but I still wanna smoke atleast 2 a day is that bad. No criticism please i'm just trying to figure out how bad the cigs really are for me right now.. I admit to being a little stubborn but i'm just unclear on what I should do. Also the doctor told me to be off for 3 days but i'm considering going to work tomorrow (my 3rd day) I havent decided yet just trying to get someone elses opinion.

About a year ago I had a root canal with a crown. The tooth ached a little from time to time but I thought it was normal. The other day i was running my tounge across my teeth and and noticed tenderness on that same tooth.

When I looked, like my inside gumline where that tooth is black/dark purple!!! I couldnt believe it. When I brush it it hurts. Im making an emergency dentis appt monday...

but Im just wondering what the heck is going on?? Im afraid that I might lose my tooth!! =(

Two of my wisdom teeth are coming in the top and bottom on the right side. they were impacted for some time but are now starting to come out. the one that is on the bottom that is coming out is decaying already can't tell if the top one is. I am in pain and the 1000 mg of lodine I am taking isn't working that much.

I don't have dental insurance and all the dentists I call want the money up front (which I do not have) I know if I go to the emergency room they will only give me more pain meds. the cook county hospital in Chicago does them but you have to call them from 7.00 am to 7.15am. that is only fifteen minutes and I have been trying to call for a week and can't get through. does anyone know how I can get my wisdom teeth removed without having the money.

All four of my wisdom teeth were extracted yesterday afternoon. Dentist did it in the chair and sent me home. Last night, the swelling wasn't too bad, and a couple of pain pills did the trick. Today, however, the swelling is quite significant and the pain doesn't seem to be lessened any at all. How long before I can expect the swelling to let up? Thanks

Hi. Im in 6th grade and i'm 12. i want to get invisalign. my teeth arent bad, just a little gap in my front ones.not really that crooked. thats why i want invisalign,so i dont have to get them tightened and stuff like braces. i dont care if my friends know i have them and i like how they will bleach my teeth after i'm done using them (or at least thats what they do where i will get them) do you think its worth taking out the invisalign every time i eat or should i get braces? i will be in school during lunch.if anyone has had invisalign here are my questions:
1. is it worth taking them out every time you eat/
2.should i get them since i will only need them for a few months?
3. do they look weird when they are on?

thanks!

ps. dont tell me they are more expensive then braces, becasue for me they arent!

happy holidays!
