We Americans like to have nice, white teeth...what is wrong with that? Some people are obsessed with looking like perfect models, but the average person -like you - just brushes and flossed to keep them healthy. Only a few go out and have them straightened to perfection and whitened to the point where they look like piano keys.

I am not obsessed with the dentist! I hate the dentist!!! I just like looking my best at all times. Being presentable in America is the number one thing all Americans love to have because bad hygiene is not accepted and it is also hard to advance in a career if you don't take care of yourself.

It's not everybody here in the U.S. I have never had braces nor have any of my siblings. Some of us, believe it or not, were just blessed with straight teeth. We do take care of them as far as whitening and brushing and flossing, but why not? To have a nice grille adds so much to your appearance and makes you feel better about yourself. Sure, some people have cosmetic dentistry, but that is their prerogative and they probably needed it.

Healthy teeth are fine, theres no need for perfection. The Americans always say us British have bad teeth, its because we don't splash out to look absolutely perfect.
Too much looking through magazines nowadays!

I don't think we are obsessed we just like nice white, straight teeth. Most people just brush and floss twice a day. It's called good hygiene.

Twice a day is good for me too. I think it is mostly Hollywood spilling over into mainstream. Poor little sheeple have to do what is on the cover of magazines...like fake boobs and ultra skinny.

American, I am sorry to say, often are obsessed with hygeine and being 'clean'. In the U.S there are alot of commercials on the television that advertise for disenfectant, because Americans are so afraid of getting sick, etc. It just a matter of being perfect, and being clean/healthy 24/7

Media propaganda incites feelings of inequality and fear of embarrassment in the weak minded. This in turn feeds the economic growth which sustains the lifestyles of capitalists.

Another fear driven economic base, much like insurance, lawyers, religion, or national deffense.
